Does THIS beef have chloramphenicol? Is it the SAME beef shipment China turned down FIVE months ago?
I have a very hard time believing that beef with any chloramphenicol would be brought into the US.

Yea. Are we to believe that a shipment left Argentina 6 months ago. It takes 30-60 days by ship. China rejects it. It goes back to Argentina. And now 5 months later the United States is getting that same beef that is now 6 months old?

It was found in one box of a 22 ton shipment months ago. Had nothing to do with this shipment of beef besides both being from Argentina.

Your post says China rejected one 20 ton load, that doesn’t mean all Argentinian beef is contaminated. Loads of all food products get rejected regularly.
It’s only for a 90 day period, and we consume 8 billion lbs of beef in that 90 day window. The imports are only 8% of that supply. That’s not going to put anyone out of business that wasn’t already going out. It’s a stop gap to get beef prices down before midterms and give ranchers time to increase supply.
The sad reality is these domestic production problems will only get worse. It’s because young generations want nothing to do with farming or ranching, even if it’s profitable. They don’t like the long hours and hard work. I know several catfish farmers, rowcrop farms and cattle operations shutting down simply because the owner is retiring and his kids want nothing to do with it

Yup and I don’t get it. You have a “use or freeze by” date on the package. Why not on that date take that meat, have a person run it through a machine that puts it in one of those big tubes that’s like 5 lbs of ground beef and freeze it. Vacuum seal steaks on that date, freeze them. Sell for half price in freezer section with a label stating to cook as soon as you thaw it

That would be 281,050 ranchers out of business in just ten years. Google says there are about 600,000 total in the US, so I would file this under “Not Believable”.
