What will happen? Higher price of manufactured goods, higher end prices to consumers, lower demand, job lay offs.

also a permanent hit to & slower growth in worker productivity

implying persistent slower potential gdp growth

There's a reason Trudeau has been out on the trail in places like India. Canada is a gateway to the US market for Asian exporters who can use NAFTA to dodge some of the US attempts at trade regulation etc. There's a reason Trump has called NAFTA a terrible deal for America. There's also a reason why Trudeau got such a cold shoulder in India.

Just like Oil prices. High oil prices hurt 90% of the population but if you happen to be in the 10% that work in the petroleum industry then you are loving life.

The EO on the pipe line is the example. I personally hope there is no wait.

No... again that's an assumption. When we are adding industry, we are not slowing.

Uh, yes. I have personally lost a lot of money in the last two days because of this bull shite. So -- and I hope you don't mind me saying this -- frick YOU AND YOUR TARIFFS.

How so, there are no tariffs in place.

So again, you totally avoided how it actually helps and not hurt people.

Just like the Washing machines... "Oh they will go up $100!" A Washing Machine lasts 5 years. That's $20 per year. Less than $2 per month. And the offset is more jobs which drives up wages.

There is zero stupid about it.

And nobody has laid out an argument that refutes the benefits out weighing the concerns.

Do you not understand the power of the President of the United States announcing he is going to put new tariffs in place?

You have finally proven you are an idiot. You have removed all doubt.

How can you claim to be a market driven conservative and at the same time applaud wide ranging tariffs on the very goods we need to re-build our infrastructure?

Have you ever taken even one economics course in your entire juvenile life? The answer has to be "no."

Burdening American consumers to benefit areas that haven't adjusted to the modern economy isn't a conservative position.

I do. Here is some of that power:

quote:

After Trump tariffs, Chinese solar company says it will build U.S. factory

quote:

A week after the Trump administration unveiled tariffs of up to 30% on imports of solar panels, one of China's biggest manufacturers announced that it plans to open a new plant in the U.S.

JinkoSolar said in a statement Monday that its board of directors had given the go-ahead to "finalize planning for the construction of an advanced solar manufacturing facility in the U.S."

Documents filed with the local government in Jacksonville, Florida, this month state that a "leading international manufacturer of solar panels and modules" is seeking to invest more than $400 million in building a manufacturing plant in the city.

Because I was there. What was implemented was NEVER meant to be what the liberal arm of the GOP pushed towards. It's why Reagan used tariffs.
