What's so bad about CA laws is that it doesn't even have to be illegal to be so completely fricked up
You can lawfully drop your mail in ballot in the box up to 11:59:59 of election day
The post office is required to postmark them to election day, even if it takes a few days to get to it. Then they have another 7 days to be received into the election offices after they are postmarked
Since everybody gets a mail in ballot no matter what, day of voting in CA is a loosely held suggestion, and it's never truly over till its over

The post office should postmark mail the date it's dropping in the box, not when it's processed. I know most bills and taxes are done electronically, but how would you feel if you dropped off your taxes on 4/15 because you wanted to float a check, but the post office didn't mark it until 4/22 and the IRS hits you late payment/filing penalties?
Mail-in ballots should be required to be received a week before election day so that the in-person log is marked as early voted.
