Sounds like a slam dunk. Can’t imagine anyway this will end differently.

What settlement isn't a business decision?

That merger is being held up by the FCC, which is controlled by Trump. If that ain’t leverage for a settlement, I dunno what is.
Unless Trump has some similar leverage over WSJ (I suppose that’s possible) you’re not doing yourself any favors conflating the two.
Especially after WSJ saw what happened to CBS and said yeah we’re doing it anyway…

So, you think Trump used his authority to force a settlement and would have lost? What magic leverage did he have on ABC?

Yeah he is blackmailing them. Lol

He mostly did it to settle a bet between Nashville Tider and Violent Hip Swivel.

Discovery will take longer than Rupert's life.

Are you talking about Stephanopolous stepping on his own dick in that live interview? He fricked up for sure.
Pretty different situation IMO (live, on air for all of us to see and hear) but if you want to think they’re all the same, be my guest.
I guess I could see a world where enough Fox viewers revolt, maybe that’s the Trump leverage on RM & WSJ?

No, he can’t force cbs to settle (16mil) but he absolutely can block/delay/drag out their merger (8bil) for a long time via the fcc, if not indefinitely.
Pretend you’re the CEO of cbs, even if you thought you’d win that case, would you really risk a 16m settlement getting in the way of an 8b merger? That’s the point.
On the other hand, If you’re really arguing Trump can’t get the FCC (run by Trump appointees) to do what he wants, I dunno what to tell you man.

His DIL worked for the clintons while his son was in charge of fox.
It’s one big club.

The WSJ will subside a large wing of Trump's library. It's inevitable.

Murdoch has never liked Trump.
Murdoch's sons are even worse than he is. In fact Rupert went to court in an attempt to change his will so that a 3rd son would control his business interests rather than the other 2 sons who are left-wing nutjobs.
Funny thing is, I don't think the court would let him make the change. I always thought anybody could make changes to their own will.

Now do FoxNews (another Murdoch business) and Dominion?

His issues in changing the inheritance structure is because its not a will, its in a irrevocable trust he already established
As far as MSM goes, Murdoch is not bad (he is still a fricker). Its a shame Fox is almost certain to become another NBC once he passes though, his kids (outside of the 1 son), have already said they plan on making it less "partisan"

They can make it another NBC going into it with the full knowledge that they’re about to start nosediving in ratings and losing money, I suppose…..just like NBC.
