My question is why wouldn't you, if I'm in a situation like that, unless I have a signed agreement that I'm not allowed to work, I dam sure will find work.
Because in many of these instances, if person in question finds employment, they no longer receive gov't check. Most people, right or wrong, will ride that until the wheels fall off.

Alright listen here all you dumb fricks.
All these people aren't being rehired. They are rescinding the DRP before the end of their offload date. They never left Federal service as they were still on Federal payroll (even if they got another job in the meanwhile)

Happens with every major RIF in the private sector as well. This isn’t a surprise.

Or they were untouchable sitting getting paid for months.
They obviously cant be fired. So they are being told work or GTFO.

Yeah. Probably not.

I agree with everything you said. Even the dumb fricks part.

They are being told that they dont have to resign at the end of September if they don't want to...because the offer they signed at the beginning of all this nonsense was for them to go on paid admin leave until the end of the fiscal year

When the result is “Ultimately, the outcome was the agency was left broken and understaffed,” your cuts were not good business.
Said by someone not it the agency.

Same as with any RIF in a large corporation.

It always fascinates me when people post with such hubris from a place of complete ignorance.

Corporations do this routinely. Lay-off 10% based on some metrics. Let the managers rehire the good ones that were let go. Trim the fat and improve the work force.
Do they pay them for the entire time they were gone?
Posted on 9/24/25 at 2:59 pm to ragincajun03
Awesome, Gov’t workers get a 7 month paid vacation at my and your expense. How typical Government shite is that.

Yes. Generally a RIF at a large corporation is accompanied with severance packages.

Frick no. What kind of question is that?
And you can blame DOGE or Trump or whomever you like, but as I understand it this was a function of their union contracts.

My aunt was a microbiologist for the EPA in DC for years. Right before Trump got elected she decided to move to Gulf Breeze and work at the little EPA office on Pensacola Beach. Right after they bought their house and were moving in and she started working at her new office, DOGE started trying to push her out and retire. She didn't want to, but they made life in the workplace very difficult for her, so she gave in, took the rest of the year's salary, and retired.
They tried to get her to come back a few months later, because no one else really knows how to do the research she had been doing, but she told them no thanks.

Nonsense. I've been told this hasn't happened.

Elon said this would likely happen. So many cuts, happening so fast, there would be corrections to be made.
Totally understandable when understanding the monstrosity of our federal government.
Sure, theres more cuts that need to be made but the cuts can't out pace the reform to handle the actual jobs that actually are beneficial.

It sucks! But, anyone believing this federal government overload could be effectively dealt with in 8 months is a fool. It's up to us, the voters, to elect better congressional representation that will follow thru.
The failures of our federal government doesn't lie with the elected officials, but with those who elected them.....
Thems the facts.
