Trump Administration now threatens to demolish the Kennedy Center

In response to a court's refusal so far to allow the Board of the Kennedy Center (of which the President is Chairman) to include President Trump's name on the memorial to JFK, the DOJ just filed a brief that threatens to just bulldoze the Center if the Board can't do everything the President wants:
"Without those efforts, the Center will deteriorate further into an unsafe, decrepit structure
that will be required to be taken down, with a determination to follow on what to build on the site, such as a large outdoor amphitheater overlooking the Potomac River that has been proposed, by some, for many years. Such a replacement will fail to adequately honor President John F. Kennedy, but would be simpler and more economical to build, operate, and maintain."
Remember when politics was dull? THIS will be fun to watch it play out. I honestly think Trump will East Wing the Kennedy Center: demolish it and dare Congress or the courts do anything about it.
Here's the brief if you want to read it:

It sounds like the building needs work.

Democrats still pretending JFK would support their party today is funny enough. Trump bulldozing the center while they cry on TV will be over the top

dude, give it a rest. I know you are beta liberal, but come up with something real.

No doubt.
I don't know if this is just a brush back pitch to those who oppose Trump's name on President Kennedy's memorial. I think it's a genuis move.
With the East Wing precedent, I think the President could just bulldoze the whole thing. Who is going to stop him?

I think it sounds like he'd rather fix up the joint and improve it... but he gets blowback for every thing he tries to do.

The only sure thing is that lawyers will make money. That is the priority of the "Justice" system.
pages and pages of filler = hours and hours of billing

I'm not seeing the threat of demolishing it... The building needs to be updated/ repaired.. Buildings that fall into a state of disrepair eventually reach a point where it is cheaper to tear them down than it is to repair them.. If he is spearheading the repairs, the upgrades, the expansion or whatever you want to call it, including his name is pretty standard practice. Walk into any major building or facility around the country and you're pretty much guaranteed to see a plaque honoring those that played a major role in the effort if not their name outright on the building.

Is this about the naming it after Trump thing?

Only if his name is on it; and before Kennedy’s.

If the building is decrepit and unsafe, are you just gonna let it deteriorate, Detroit-style? I know democrats love decay and and blight in their cities but this is D.C. where the chosen people live, not some Midwest shithole they only need for votes and riots.

Should be demolished anyway. $40T in debt and for whatever reason, some people really think workers subsidizing Hollywood is necessary.

I'm not a liberal. By today's standards, JFK would not be considered one (at least on foreign policy and military strength).
On any level, the threat to bulldoze the only monument of a war hero, assassinated, beloved president is something real.
On a personal level, let me say this sincerely from the bottom of my heart: frick you.
This was the first thing I remember watching on TV:

What's stopping him?

If Trump pushes through needed upgrades to the building that were not done in the TEN administrations in the interim, why the frick shouldn't his name be added to it?

They won’t let him put his name on it. That’s the only thing. Without that he’ll take his ball and go home.

Almost like he wasn't POTUS from 2017-2021.

Why didn't Trump do the upgrades in his first administration?
Trump's megalomania is part of his personality that makes him a great president. To constantly feed it is unhealthy for the country.
If you can't see how preposterous and insulting it is to have anyone else's name on a monument or memorial to a president, I don't know what to tell you.

Trump is winning the White House Ballroom PR battle. He would lose the PR battle if he demolishes the Kennedy Center.
