Go ahead and believe the msm spin "they will retaliate". No they will escalate.

They have been unfairly dumping on our arse for decades and we finally are fighting back.

Now if they want to escalate, go ahead. Trump is right, when you have a 600 billion trade deficit, the other countries have far more to lose than you do.

I loved it when China threatened 150 billion in trade goods sanctions a few months ago. WE DONT EVEN SELL THEM 120 BILLION IN GOODS (Its 117 billion in goods, 170 when you include services).

The move, which has been threatened for months, is almost certain to draw a response from the EU, which has threatened to retaliate with its own tariffs on such American products as motorcycles, jeans and bourbon.

If I was Trump, the first thing I'd do after the EU response is to pull every US BMD fitted warship out and send them home to the US. I don't see a need to have our $2.2 billion destroyers provide missile defense on a region that grosses $18 trillion a year and screws us on trade deals.

Unfortunately the last time we did that a war broke out, we had to bail them out, and our "allies" have been screwing us on trade ever since.

Europeans don't like admitting that there are consequences for their continent and lack of unity nearly destroying the world, twice.

If you don't want Daddy in charge, then don't start wars with one another where we have to bail your arse out with our resources and rebuild your countries. Sheesh, We even rebuilt and unified the Nazis. Zero gratitude.

PS: ^^"this is exactly why we hate Americans"^^ too fricking bad, these are the consequences of your ancestors acting like bloodthirsty animals.

I always find it interesting that people automatically assume trade deficits are bad.

The US is a net importer of capital. Think about it. That means the amount of capital flowing in exceeds the amount flowing out, giving Americans the ability to buy things that well exceed the value of our exports. It’s only natural that we would have a trade deficit if we import a ton of capital. It’s a sign of prosperity.

Trump has turned you guys against things in a perplexing way. You are taking the bait.

This is a bid to win more votes in regions hurt by the loss of American manufacturing. It’s the same group that helped Trump get elected.

It’s not good for the macro economy. It’s good for votes

Study your history Republicans were the party of tariffs from 1854 to around 1960

And there was a major shift in Republican politics during that time. Began with Theodore Roosevelt and by the time Eisenhower became president the GOP had little in common with the 19th century GOP.

Ive heard this argument from the left cahoots. You see its simple accounting, they send goods we buy them they zero it out with capital.

Here is the problem with that sparky. I take my money and buy their goods, they take my money(conveniently called capital) and buy my company, my land, my politicians, and eventually I have nothing.

Thats the problem with buying goods and they make "capital investments".

If it were that easy we would not have a 20 trillion dollar debt and other countries now own half of America.

On the other hand, at the end of ww2 we had half of the worlds GDP, we now have 25%, and Japan and China have the other 25% we lost.

Its a very naive argument. Similar to those reverse mortgages, you still own your home and get lots of cash. what could go wrong, other than you live a little too long and lose your home, after you have squandered your kids inheritance and they have to pay to bury you.

Anyone who actually practices economics and deals with real macro functions and not pure, controlled scenario theory understands that if someone unfairly subsidizes or gives advantages to a certain industry and makes you less competitive artificially that the correct economic answer is to equally match it.

But how is the EU, Mexico, or Canada doing that? Yeah, China has been manipulating the market for years. But not these new round of tariffs. All we are doing, is getting into a trade war with all of our closest allies.

Been Sasse melting. He said "tariffs are the reason we had a great depression." He went on to say "Make America Great Again should not mean making America 1929 again."

Trudeau on the tariffs

quote:

At a press conference Thursday, the Canadian leader issued some of his strongest remarks against the Trump administration's trade policies to date. "Let me be clear: These tariffs are totally unacceptable," Trudeau said. "Canadians have served alongside Americans in two world wars and in Korea. From the beaches of Normandy to the mountains of Afghanistan, we have fought and died together."

quote:

"These tariffs are an affront to the long-standing security partnership between Canada and the United States, and in particular, to the thousands of Canadians who have fought and died alongside American comrades-in-arms," he finished.

the Trump admin is a bad joke, they have no clue what they are doing and are just winging.

Trump even mentioned to Macron a few weeks back he was intending on banning German luxury car imports.

Trumps a dumbass and any of you that support this fricking clown are dumbasses right along side him.
