The kind of people refusing to pay their loans aren't voting Trump.

A bailout isn't a loan. They're legitimate victims of the ongoing trade war.

If it were a loan they signed up for and not a grant, sure. But they didn't. Found another retard.

I think the answer here is somewhere in the middle. In a lot of cases these kids don't understand what they're getting into when they sign for these loans. Their parents fault? Probably. But the fact remains that for a lot of kids this is their first taste of adulthood and they sign up for loans for degrees in philosophy or whatever genuinely thinking they're going to do some good in this world. Then they enter the workforce and realize there are no jobs for philosophy majors.

They should go after anyone who is making more than 100k per year and not repaying their loans. Garnishing the wages of people who are poor isn't doing anyone any good. Find another way for those people to repay their debt. Let them put in some volunteer work for DOGE or something. It would be a good lesson for them to learn doing work like that.

Yeah, that’s how you lose the midterms real fast.

Because the people in debt under degrees in feminine studies and transgender sociology who cannot find a job based on their academic credentials, were definitely voting for Trump before this.

I can accept the need for a middle ground on this. I think that's what Trump is doing, he said starting with 1,000 and increasing every month. Target the highest earners that are wilfully not repaying and work from there, sending a message to the rest.

The student loan issue is truly insane. I also really didn't understand the gravity of what I was signing up for, but at least kept mine reasonable to where they weren't crippling.

So you only get in trouble if you make enough money? Sounds fair.

The fix is simple:

You took a loan. Pay it back or you suffer the repercussions.

Same here. But I think a whole lot of people are in the other category. Didn't realize what they were getting into and did borrow enough that it was crippling. It's a failure by their parents. But it's hard for me to outright blame an 18 year old kid who is taking out his/her very first loan if they didn't grow up in a household with financially literate parents.

Yes. For now. I also proposed giving poorer people the opportunity to pay down their debts in other ways such as volunteering time to DOGE.

This why arguments for student loan forgiveness have any weight at all. The government picks winners and losers. That is all it is anymore. So just unite with people in similar situations and hire the best lobbyist you can afford.

Oh ok. That's retarded. Punishing people for success is acceptable to you? Seems like there's already enough of that going around these days.

This wouldn't be punishing people for success, you fricking idiot. This would be punishing people who have the means to repay their loans, but don't.

And that's twice now you have ignored my proposal for allowing people without the means to repay to volunteer time to the government as payment. Funny that.

....to not be such a drain on society. To try harder in school as a youth. To do more with their lives as adults?
