I mean, Trump is famous for tariffs now. Start charging a crazy high tariff for illegal drugs coming in, particularly if we can trace it to these known exporters (China, Columbia, Venezuela, Mexico). Put the bill on the government - whether it be via reduced aid, or what have you. That's a win-win, IMHO.

Why would weed come to the US?
We can buy that shite in the stores now.
Cocaine is another issue but all of this is for show and is not stopping fentanyl.
People in this board are clueless on how drugs get here.

I don't know, maybe there is also weed and coke on the boats we are bombing. Maybe not. My guess is that boat travelling drug runners' numbers are way down right about now. Regardless of the final country destination, I think there are less boats running drugs, period. Thus, supply shortages.

Since it's illegal, you just seize it. Tariffs are for legitimate goods coming in.

Seized drugs are of no value. It's a liability, because you have to store, secure and ultimately destroy. Now, with RICO and other "ill gotten gains" statutes you can seize the profits of the illegal activity.

My point is to charge a "de facto" tariff on the sovereign nation that is 100% allowing for the outflow of these drugs. If they cooperate and reduce the flow, you can waive it. If they don't, charge them.

That's my point - a punitive tariff against the nation allowing the trafficking.

Yeah, maybe if the people there had unlimited funds. When the demand can't meet the supply price, then there are no sales. Demand alone doesn't mean shite when they live on $50 a year.

something something the new "war on drugs" would not "put a dent" in the drug market..

If those drug boats were supplying that small market it could make a huge difference there. The market in the US is a different animal. Any effect here will be very short term as supply routes shift.

Sure, maybe...in Trinidad. I thought all of this activity was to impact things in the US?

So drug cartels don't have to work as hard now to make the same amount of money? Doesn't sound like such a win.

I take it none of you have ever run a distribution company. Let me see, a little fairy makes the cocaine and delivers it right to the nose of each consumer.

Or transport makes deliveries on the way, cross docks at other locations, sells to other distributors and wholesalers, hmmmmm.
