The scenarios are the same in principle but in practice one presents a real physical threat and one is more a matter of embarrassment. I wouldn't allow either but I do see more urgency in one scenario than the other.

There does seem to exist some resentment amongst the gentlemen that THEY must let females into their locker room spaces for sports interviews et al.
I don't blame the resentment one bit, but our society today seems hell bent on punishing "cis gendered" males. Especially white Christian ones.
Most biological women are afraid of rapes and molestation from a humanoid creature who is bigger, stronger, and heavier so there's that.
And there's decency and respecting the young. I wouldn't want some nekkid biological woman with a beard on her face from testosterone injections flashing her nasty private parts around my son.

Reason why surveys have teens in high percentage saying they are an alphabet member a certain chunk going as far as saying trans.
This is why "all this nonsense, all this expenditure, all this wasted court time" is being done to bring down the normal belief and structures we have in place. Even the basic difference of restroom/locker room usage like in this story, and why the YMCA has such a canned response.
