So, like, what's the plan moving forward?
Are they for real or campaign rhetoric?
How can you bash obamacare for increasing premiums and then support the very provision that increases premiums?

I agree. This is one of the most hypocritical stances the GOP can take. The main reason the ACA was so expensive was due to covering pre existing conditions.

Pre existing coverage is a joke. That’s just my opinion on it. It is not insurance. I say this as someone without insurance.

We are for covering pre-existing conditions. The Democrats are lying about the GOP being against it. The special interest groups lie about it too, to hurt Republicans. It is standard now in Insurance. I know.

So, in a nutshell, the lack of the individual mandate means some healthy people won't get insurance. Covering pre-existing conditions means that insurers can't turn unhealthy people away and/or raise premiums too high. And, if the subsidies eventually disappear, rich people won't chip in to the pool.

This is basically a recipe for the highest possible premiums for the average American.

Actually, the big killer was "essential" coverage. I have the data bookmarked at home. Premiums skyrocketed at the end of 2014. Community rating and guaranteed issue kicked in a lot earlier and generated modest increases.

Makes sense because "essential" coverage made insurance illegal and forced people out of affordable plans into expensive plans that were more like prepaid health care.

Ok....

Then what was the point of fighting the ACA. Including anything involving pre existing conditions is going to cost alot of $$$. That's why prior to the ACA, people with serious conditions were paying outrageous prices or simply couldn't afford it.

How will the GOP resolve the cost problem since ACA could not.

But Republicans are trying to have it both ways. Supporting pre-existing conditions AND blaming obamacare for increasing premiums. You can't have it both ways.

I don't believe anyone should be denied insurance for pre-existing conditions. But it should be determined by the market.

IE, suppose Zach is 35, a non-smoker and is 5-2, 410 pounds. I apply for health insurance. I receive it. But my premiums will be $2,000 a month. If I don't want to pay then I have chosen to go without health insurance. It's all about freedom.

The easiest way is being able to purchase plans across state lines

I distinctly remember Republicans railing against pre-existing conditions coverage in Obamacare.

I know I'll get blasted by someone with a child that has a life altering pre-existing health condition, but "pre-existing" conditions are one of the primary ways insurance companies manage and estimate risk. Wanna know why your health insurance premiums sky rocketed because of Obamacare? The ACA removed 2 of the most fundamental ways insurance companies manage their risk...the first was the pre-existing condition, and the second was the lifetime maximum ceiling on policies.

Think of your homeowner's policy...there are several "pre-existing" conditions that are excluded from your policy. Otherwise, people would simply buy insurance after their house burns down...and you policy has a maximum ceiling that it would pay you if your house blew up..

This where it needs to get clarified.

If you carry insurance and have to switch into another, any pre-existing conditions come over without question.

If you decide to not carry insurance and something goes south with your health, you are out of luck.

Once a kid leaves their parents insurance, they should get their own.

Coverage for pre-existing conditions must be required. However, there needs to be different risk pools for people. A 60 year old woman undergoing cancer treatment for the past 2 years should not be paying the same amount for her health insurance as a 60 year old woman who is cancer free.

Insurance companies covered pre-existing conditions before Obama care as long as you had a enough people on the plan . I have a pre-existing condition and have always had insurance . We just need a group plan for people to join who are retired , between jobs ect. I think this is just a thing for democrats to scare people into voting for them . Obamacare is unaffordable if you have a decent job even if you don’t have pre-existing conditions. Obamacare only helps poor people or people who don’t work .

How anyone could favor the government forcing people to go purchase a product from a private company is something that I'll never understand.

It's factored into healthcare now.

In fact... Here is something you may not know... Pre-existing conditions were covered PRIOR to Obamacare.
