If I were to speculate I would guess You are looking at this backwards . He has something. There is a lot of smoke, a lot of supporting evidence about leaks and Eight years of Obama lawlessness to reflect on. I think that Obama bet on HRC winning and subsequent Democratic DOJ quashing any record of it. I think there is a paper trail leading right back to the Obama Administration , it's probably going to be "strictly legal" but historically unethical and will reveal that intelligence and the Dems are actively targeting their domestic enemies using the Russians as a ruse/cover story to collect domestic intelligence . I think it's plausible that all the "Russian " hysteria might be a defensive effort to undermine Trump prior to all this leaking out. Again, I would bet there is an irrefutable paper trail leading to an actual wiretapping that is impossible to refute so they had to shift the argument prior to it being released. That's my guess.

Y'all are chasing a political ghost, the real collusion was with HRC, the Russians and the Clinton Foundation, selling US uranium for millions of dollars that were funneled to the Clinton Inc. crime syndicate.

Exactly. Trump can try all he wants to create a distraction, but this tactic will probably not derail an independent investigation into his Russian connections.
True - if a FISA court approved it, then there has to be "something" there the passes a threshold higher than a Pelosi/Schumer sound byte.
Again, it seems the rational thing to do would be to investigate why whatever 'legal' information was gathered was leaked to the DEM.media. If not legal, why not wait until you have amassed enough ammo to lower the hammer on their worthless asses.

Is it not possible that both Trump and Clinton are shady as frick? I don't see this as a zero sum game.

If, in fact, Trump and his associates have been under surveillance from certain intelligence agencies for the past several months, and absolutely nothing substantial regarding unethical or unsavory dealings have been leaked, I would venture to say that he is remarkably unshady.

The DNC was hacked and a bunch of dirt was brought to light on Hillary. This infuriated her and Obama, so they decided there "must" be some connection with Trump. So they wiretapped Trump.
The question right now is were those wiretaps legal? What was their "probable cause?" You can't just tap the phones of a political campaign because you're mad that you lost an election.
Make no mistake, the Democrats would be furious right now if the shoe was on the other foot. Can you imagine if Bush had tapped Obama's phones in 2008? Do you really think they'd be cool with it?
