It's been many years since civics class, but I seem to recall Congress being in charge of federal money. How was he able to give that money without approval?

Sad to see that in his final days Obama's pet projects were freeing felon from US prisons, thinning the herd at Gitmo, giving money for climate change research, and bankrolling the Palestinians.

And people don't understand why Trump's slogan of putting America first resonates with people?

That was one of the silliest arguments against him from the "tolerant" left. His SIL is friggin Jewish as is Ivanka.

This is the crap that pisses me off. We bicker about money that we spend in our own damn country on our own damn people, but no one seems to have a problem with giving billions of dollars to foreign countries. Cut external before you cut internal.

OMG, you are so far behind. Obama had a pen and a phone. They only took them away after the inauguration.

In final hours Obama administration gave $221 million dollars to Palestinian Authority

Well I hope they spend it wisely and make it last. Might be the last check from the U.S. for awhile. Maybe Iran will cut them some slack on their arms shipments.

No link to confirm, but it probably came out of the State Department's budget(Israel's did last year), and was already appropriated by Congress. President's do have some discretion on some department spending.

Cutting foreign aid is consistently one of the most popular questions pollsters ask. I don't think it isn't not having a problem with it, it is that globalists have told us that liberal western hegemony depends on paying countries insane amounts of foreign aid. So we do it. Despite such spending being unpopular with the electorate, the ruling class thinks it is essential to ensure US can effectively police the world.

That money also comes back as lobbying cash, bribes and slush funds.

It's no different than the government giving Planned Parenthood money, then Planned Parenthood donates millions to democratic politicians, using de-facto government funds.

Congress had initially approved the Palestinian funding in budget years 2015 and 2016, but at least two GOP lawmakers - Ed Royce of California, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Kay Granger of Texas, who sits on the House Appropriations Committee - had placed holds on it over moves the Palestinian Authority had taken to seek membership in international organizations. Congressional holds are generally respected by the executive branch but are not legally binding after funds have been allocated.

I call b.s. on that. Our politicians do it because the corporate lobbyist tell them that it is essential that some of our corporations(oil and weapons) have essential interest in those countries. If there wasn't a monetary gain for some we wouldn't give two shites about them.
