Your assault is going to have to be amphibious. Where are the boats, Xi? We’re not seeing them. Plus the beaches are notoriously horrible in Taiwan. Good fricking luck with your men taking the entire island in two days.
If they could take Taiwan in 2-yrs, they would. They can't. The 100 mile sea crossing would be suicidal.

They would take Taiwan in 48 hrs without much problem do to overwhelming size difference. And the island is heavily dependent on resources shipped in.

The first hour of an invasion would be the most important for Taiwan to attack, massively hitting China's assets. All missiles would be used to fire on the mainland the very first day.

The ROC’s military may not be huge but aren’t they well-trained and equipped? I’d imagine they would fight pretty fricking hard considering the alternative. I can’t imagine the CCP will be forgiving for 70+ years of insolence.

Highly doubt the Chinese have the logistical capability to do a cross channel invasion and sustain the needed supply lines to support any beach head they establish.

I remember a guy from the Naval War College who once said that if the ChiComs tried to cross the Taiwan Straits en masse they would ultimate prevail but the slaughter would be profound for the ChiComs. First they would take a beating from Taiwan held islands in the Straits like Matsu and Quemoy and the shore batteries are impressive as are the armaments up in the mountains.

So maybe the Chinese try a flanking move and try to attack from the East ( Pacific) side....same thing if not worse. Take a look at the geography. The ChiComs ultimately win, but the damage to the forces as well as damage to coastal China could cause Civil unrest. He said imagine being able to walk to China from Taiwan on the bodies. Hyperbole, of course, but you would get an idea of the cost.

Probably. China has 1.6 billion people. Don't they also have the largest military in the world? They could overwhelm Taiwan with numbers alone.

Ain't like Russia. According to what media implied ... Ukrainian elderly were slaughtering the entire Russian military every day. Just the ghost of Kiev was shooting down like a thousand Russian jets a day.

Communist China cannot successfully invade Taiwan. Not at this point. Any such attempt would be a massive fiasco, a catastrophefor the CCP and potentially the end of the regime.

China lacks the military transport, let alone the coordination to be able cross the channel successfully in the needed force.

As I understand it.. and I could be wrong.. the Chinese leadership is going through a process that could decide who the "next" leader of the nation would be.. so I think what Pelosi did was a ruse by our government to weaken the current leader...

Having said that, the fact we have not heard anything about what Pelosi was there for.. as in meeting with government officials and what the purpose of those meetings were.. is troubling but also in my mind reinforces my thinking..

Of course no one knows what other players and/or factions are in play for that leadership role but in the end I see it as the US attempting bring some influence into that decision..

you know, boats.

It's not just the boats.

We had the boats for Normandy and had to wait on weather. The straights are just as treacherous with the added effect of trying to capture an island like Peliliu.

It's a fricking complicated task.

China has always huffed and puffed.

They are better off by boycotting and maybe blockading but I don't think we should honor a blockade.

Plus Japan ain't slapped a bitch in a week.

They would absolutely revel in the opportunity to blast China into submission. Bushido still exists.

The problem is that if China didn't take Taiwan quickly, it would make the administration appear weak and weaker by the day that Taiwan withstood their advances.

Xi has now all but assured the world he won't invade Taiwan, because there's no fricking way he can take it in 48 hours, and he can't afford to appear weak. Ever. This is just political posturing akin to "shooting down Pelosi's plane". In the event of an invasion, any war that lasted longer than a month, and Xi would be sleeping with one eye open.

China ain't gonna do shite but shite and fall back in it.
