The largest population centers are dysfunctionally Democrat run... and until a year ago, we just went through 8 years of a commie Democrat Governor. The new "Republican" Governor isn't much better, unless you prioritize hanging the 10 commandments in classrooms over lower taxes, cheaper auto insurance etc.

Lower cost of living, fewer commies (outside of New orleans, BR and Shreveport).

Shouldn't be on the list of reasons Corruption is everywhere not just Louisana. Louisana can't hold a candle to Illinois.

And other than California I would say weather.

I like hot weather.

The main reason I moved is because of the weather. Worst weather in the country, hands down... for me anyway. Hurricanes, tornadoes, torrential downpours and flooding, unbearable heat and humidity during the 7 month summers every year... High AF utility bills because the A/C goes non-stop.

I didn't want to spend another summer in Louisiana.

Georgia is dirty! I mean it is an ugly drive through that mess of a state.

Louisiana

Has the #1 highest sales tax in the entire nation, ranks 48th out of 50 in household income, and has the highest murder rate in the nation for three decades and counting. It remains the only southern state that people are not migrating to, but leaving. It’s not difficult to see why.

Cajun food sure. But that's one type of food. All the other types are made better elsewhere than Louisiana.

I don't know about can't hold a candle but it's definitely not the only state with a traditionally corrupt government and government officials. It was black Louisiana (New Orleans) Democrat politicians who engineered the large scale, national mail in ballot harvesting and fraud that helped "elect" Biden in 2020... Cedric Richmond and Marc Morial.

I agree, but could just be the pervasive corruption of Louisiana politics.

COL
Job opportunities
insurance rates
Trial attorneys owning the state

Louisiana politicians ran the entire Oil and Gas industry to Houston, when NOLA was the hub. fricked up Disney coming here, ran Delta out when they wanted to hub here. There are so many frick ups here, we should dissolve state government.

I'm laughing at you, not with you.

If you think Louisiana is any different than any southern state, you're just being overly dramatic.

Only problem is the people leaving those states continue with their voting habits in the new state they move to.

Not always true. Here in Idaho the newcomers from California, Oregon, and Washington (they call us COWs) are registering republican at a higher percentage than the existing population. According to the Secretary of State, "Idaho is a red state and it's getting redder."

And, anecdotally, us new folks are more conservative. I met a woman at a candidate forum who complained about how "radical" these new folks are. It's like how the staunchest anti-communists are the people from east Europe and Cuba who fled communism.

And education is trending in the right direction.

Education in this state is similar to economic growth. I constantly hear about how its trending in the right direction, but its seems to be perpetually at the bottom. Same with economic growth. Big projects announced, but they never seem to materialize. Or if they do, they are on a much smaller scale than originally announced. Then of course the local pols start to bitch about the incentives that were used to attract the projects and question the ROI. Same with education. Changes are made to budgets, curriculums, daily procedures. Hell, we even seem to change the way we evaluate the students. But we are constantly told we are at the bottom. Wonder why that is?

California has been spreading the virus and its ways to Tennessee and Texas for awhile.

Now Angelenos are hitting Nevada and Utah hard...fleeing across the State border for $ and taxes but "staying close" to their baby they now hate...kinda like Mexican immigrants.

Connecticut was losing ~7 people/1000 residents for a rank of 14th in net migration by percentage of population as of July 2024.

LA is akin to NJ with the political corruption, especially how both states have the local systems reign supreme over the State governments, whereby NJ municipalities and LA parishes are little segregated self ruling fiefdoms.

You should consider moving to California or New York.

Quick Google search for you.

Yes, Connecticut is experiencing a net population loss due to residents moving to other states. While the state saw an influx of residents from other states, particularly New York and Massachusetts, the number of people leaving for other states, especially Florida, has been higher. This net outflow of residents has led to a decrease in Connecticut's population.
