He’s telling you that he doesn’t have the votes to push a standing filibuster.

What’s he supposed to do?

Does the VP break a tie on internal Senate rules?

Who knows. These people are retarded. It got 48 votes. Yes it’s completely insane that we don’t require ID and proof of citizenship to vote, but blaming Thune makes no sense. How are they supposed to eliminate the filibuster if they can’t get 48 votes for the most common sense bill ever. What we need is real Republicans instead of Collins etc.

No—that’s part of the problem with MAGA’s strategy here in some seats. She’s the best you’ll ever get in Maine. It’s the same with some of the NE suburban republicans in the house like Lawler and Fitzpatrick, etc. It’s way better to have someone who is with you 80% of the time than a Democrat who will never vote across the aisle ever.

The parliamentarian is a designated heel.

Their job is to issue unfavorable rulings so the party in power can say "oh darn, we tried". When the D's are in power the parliamentarian blocks things like minimum wage bills so the D's can pretend to support it without it actually happening.

Wait until the next senate. Maybe we get lucky and add more R seats. You can't count on people like Cassidy and Massie to not thumb their nose at their voters on the way out.

if all was flipped and the Dems wanted to get rid of the Save America act, it would have been done in seconds.

pitiful.

The truth is that Republicans, especially those in Senate leadership, don’t want to fix the fraud for a number of reasons, but one of the main ones is because they want to continue to use it as a lightning rod for their voters. Thune has no incentive to do anything and he won’t do anything other than pretend they tried.

It's all very annoying but Thune is not wrong. There aren't 50 GOP Senators willing to nuke the filibuster. Even if you flipped the two Georgia seats back to red you still wouldn't have enough. The GOP needs to flip another 7 to 8 Senate seats to pass the Save Act. That's just reality.

Look at where the Democrat party is politically right now. If they regain the house, senate and WH all in the same cycle ever again, you'll be praying the Senate filibuster is still in place.

Under those circumstances what makes you think they won't get rid of it?

Don’t recall 82 percent of Americans wanting this legislation passed. That’s the difference it’s really a non-partisan issue.

That’s a big difference, but that wasn’t the point I was rebutting.

John Thune is GOPe.

The GOPe doesn’t want this passed because it’s a controlled opposition faction run by globalists and donors who don’t want the GOP platform to actually be passed.

They want open borders for cheap labor but can’t admit it.

They want voter fraud to keep the MAGA/AF wing from swamping them in the primaries and to prevent a majority in the senate that could allow the platform to be passed.

They want current spending to continue so their donors can continue to get rich off federal spending via contracts and local pork.

They win through inertia so they can hide behind get em next time speeches on Fox News while business as usual continues in DC.

The fact that there aren't Congressional Republicans in the ranks openly and aggressively calling for his ouster as Senate Majority leader is very telling.

Is someone instructing him to be defiant or is he just arrogant with power like Turtle and doesn’t want to ever help MAGA?

He was installed as Senate Majority leader by the McConnell camp/uniparty/Deep State, as Turtle's "protege," to defy the Trump admin. It was blatantly obvious, which is why I was pissed when it happened. I saw all this coming. When Turtle reached the point where he could drop dead any day, they handed the baton to Thune to do their bidding.

The establishment doing establishment things.
