The real issue is that alot people (this board in particular) is always crying about how unfair it is for certain races they PERCIEVE get an advantage. But as you are reading these threads, notice how entirely dismissive they are that university are taking bribes, thus destroying ALL CREDIBILITY of how university should be fair in admission.

Can you imagine the outcry if it were Black kids with AA? I certainly can because I've read those threads.

Its these double standards that lead people to believe certain posters are bigoted. Because if you were a REAL LAW & ORDER TYPE or believed in any sort of fairness, you would at least say that this is unfair to all those people who do earn and pay for school the right way.

This also makes me question how 'conservative' this board is. You don't get to cherry pick which parts of law you want to follow. I'd say to liberals as well. I dont only care about a law when someone or a group I don't like breaks the rules, because that would make me a huge hypocrite.

I only have two issues with it. If instructors were paid to allow kids to cheat on SATs/ACTs that's a huge issue.

Also, kids being given preferential treatment on entrance eligibility is also a big deal with me.

I've only read one other thread and I wouldn't say people were being dismissive of it at all.

Of course, I'm not looking to slam one side or the other so...

Lololol. Horribly inept argument.

Implementing an OFFICIAL policy of favoring one race over another in college admissions is racism . Period.

College coaches committing fraud and taking bribes from rich parents to give phony scholarships is a felony. Period.

Your need to conflate two entirely different things is laughable and an indication that you have been overcome with hatred of white people. Which we already knew.

Agreed. That, and the whole faking athletic ability to get in by athletic dept standards.

Also, the simple fact that for each one of these kids who got into a school because of these bribes or fraud, there is another kid out there who is more than qualified who would not be admitted.

Take an applicant's name/race/gender off of any college application and then admit based on merit. Keep any bias out of the process and give the kids who deserve to be there the opportunity to go.

Are you arguing that Universities should or shouldn’t be fair in their admissions policies?

"Perceive?" When colleges are weighting admissions by ethnicity, that's real advantage, not perceived.

Huh? Most normal people don't like it when people game a system that's supposed to be based on merit, regardless of the races involved.

Nobody is saying that.

You took a ramshackle premise and reached into the absurd.

Bingo. If Volod The Honky Hater’s son and my son both had identical 35 ACT scores and 4.0 gpa’s guess which one gets a full ride to an Ivy League school and which one gets a pffft TOPS award at good old State U .

One child gets rewarded for skin color and another gets punished. This pleases the moral idiot Volod.

I'm in a similar boat as you on this one, but we have to look at the bigger picture.

This is just a single instance in a corrupt system. We have to care about it, bc the goal is cleaning the entire system, and every instance can have a ripple effect.

I get what you're saying but, to me, there is a significant difference between a private entity giving someone advantage versus a public entity doing so. The difference, of course, being that we are all forced at the barrel of a gun to financially support the public entity whereas I can chose whether or not to support the private entity.

I’m not seeing his point and he did a really poor job of explaining why it is.

This scandal is enormous. It’s absolutely reprehensible. But, it really isn’t an administration issue on these school’s part from what I can tell. This was done by the COACHES. The admissions departments from what I have read, were deceived as well. That somewhat diminishes the enormity of it.

He thinks the board is full of bigots and just tried to use the latest news story to work backwards from that predetermined conclusion.

Really not much more to it than that.

Instead of downvoting like a little bitch OP, you should be apologizing for endlessly introducing race into every thread you post in. And then apologize again for having such a disorganized mind and starting such shitty threads.

Wow, volod! What did you feed that straw dog to get it so huge?

Who exactly, dismissed bribery and fraud charges of college admissions? And one would be wise to PERCEIVE advantage in admissions to groups who are given MORE consideration than their academic achievements warrant because they belong to a group. It doesn’t matter if the group is based upon sex, race, religion, or alumni relationships, etc..

While I didn’t notice any “Black kids” in the reportage of this scandal, I did notice a preponderance of liberal Hollywood types!
