normal people can't afford to buy basic neccessities. gop has done nothing to help in this regard, just started another ME war which actually makes things worse. so people are pissed and will vote for the party not in power. that's why he's gonna win.

I don't think Trump is unpopular with a majority of Texas voters.
If somehow Talarico manages to win this race, it will be solely on Paxton himself and Texas GOP Primary voters. If this were Hunt, Cruz, Abbott...hell even Crenshaw or Cornyn, with Trump's endorsement, we wouldn't be discussing even the slightest possibility of this seat flipping.

We aren't going socialist. I don't even think the DSA which really isn't socialism will gain much influence. But even if they were in charge it's still not socialism.

What exactly is the appeal to get undecided or moderate Republicans to even vote for Talarico? He’s a weird dude who comes off as a nerd shy passive. Love or hate Beto he actually seemed somewhat cool to voters and had a better look and personality than Talarico. And still lost.

He’s running as a “moderate” Democrat. I know he’s not. But he’s running ads about cutting taxes and red tape. Has no scandals to his name. He may advocate for leftist things but he comes across as reasonably intelligent. He won’t say something like “hell yes we’re coming for your guns” like Beto did.
He has not slung mud in either race. I think he appeals to a suburban type that someone like Collin Allred would not have. Paxton also won’t have Trump on the ballot to help him.
I think the real danger is republicans just don’t show up in November. I think outside of the hardcore MAGA 30% of the party, there is a lot of disappointment with what is going on.
