I don't doubt your numbers, but the "why" is the important question. Do you have any thoughts on that?

So, Boomers and X'ers tell Millennials to "grow up". Millennials (currently aged 26-41) respond,
"Y’all are supposed to be the adults in the room."

No they don't. Just a small fringe of people your age who are morons that cant figure anything out about life, about sense. HOLLERING BOYS fits.

and again, it is YOUR generation that has ushered in the existential threats to our country. This has been illustrated in stats in this thread.

I'm not a Millennial. I'm one of the unfortunate Gen Xers that got wedged between these two generations that couldn't be more similar to each other.

This. We just have to manage our money better… do we all need big gas guzzling trucks or Starbucks every day?

Just exchange the Starbucks for cigarettes and gas guzzling trucks for fuel inefficient vehicles.

What changed is that the vast majority of people in 1970 didn’t feel entitled to live in luxury on low to mid income wages...

Millennials don’t grasp that concept.

Our society created this by giving every luxury to kids...They expect that lifestyle [and] keeping up with the Js.

All spot on.

Once upon a time, "My cup is half-full" was an acknowledged blessing; But then entire mindset of 'ME! Generation' seemed to have been created overnight soon after the Hippie movement tuckered out.

Suddenly ingratitude for the simple pleasures in life and appreciation of families & friends was dismissed by the mid 80s (as you noted), replaced by a material entitlement cult of sorts -- and keeping up with the Jones (or JR Ewing) became a priority & lifestyle goal. (IMO thanks to orchestrated subversive elements that began vandalizing the culture and family values.)

In defense of younger Millennials and Gen Z, they have been programmed for a pop-culture of life-entitlement & "My cup is always half-empty!" mentality; It's all most have ever known. So...no, as a "generation", they collectively can't embrace a life-philosophy they've never known.

Minimum wage is not something that you are supposed to aspire to for your whole working career. Also, maybe factor in the overpopulation of the US and illegal immigration.

The wonderful government got involved. They made policies like “everyone deserves to be able to buy a home” and lowered interest payments to zero

Add student loans to the mix.

For good or for ill, college was something your parents saved their asses off for (and for which you worked part time jobs in high school) and there were plenty of good jobs out there if you didn't want to go (or couldn't afford it).

Then, student loans made it easy for ANYONE to go. Now, with all this $$, colleges started raising tuition and the cycle begins.

Then, our government adopts environmental anf trade policies and tax structures that incentivizes the absolute rape of domestic manufacturing.

Mensa candidate? You say the dumbest stuff on here and repeat yourself like a broken record. How about you do yourself a favor and stop blaming people for every problem in this world and fix it yourself? Put that extra energy to good use.

How about you take a 10 foot flying leap up my azz..

there are many more posting here than you.

I say the thing I do because I am stunned with how deeply empty of thought so many millennials are.. no ability for any sort of serious reasoning. No reasoning. NONE.

Yeah I am energetic. seeing a bevy of morons always gets me going, whether millennial or Arkansas fans.

Nah I don't do the Aggie thing like you do, keep that Aggie butt preferences to yourself.

You sound like a flaming libtard. Do you scream at the sky on a bad day? That is the reason why you can't reason with anyone because no one can speak above your screaming.

Millennials are not the enemy here, despite the "go boomer" stupidity.

Boomers are not the enemy here, despite their dissing of millennials.

The enemy is the socialist-marxist left wing stoking the flames of intergenerational discord to enable seizure of trillions in private assets. With the help of MSM propagandists, leftists have managed to maneuver Gen-Y and Z into actually welcoming a huge federal theft of what would otherwise be their inheritance. By the time Gen-Y and Z naivety wanes, the damage may well already be done.

The enemy is the federal thief.

No. It's still theft, because I've lost the opportunity cost of that money. I've long ago paid more into SS than I will get out, with any reasonable estimated ROI. Almost everyone would have more money for retirement had they invested it themselves. And we'd have more capital available to apply in growing our economy.

I have nearly 200k of social security paid in over my work life, which started at 12 and I am only 44 in a month. At any type of reasonable investment, I would have enough to retire, buy a big house and live however I want until I die, but yet, I have to work another 25 years to get a couple grand a month (maybe). Yet this is called an entitlement. If they would cut me a check for what I have paid in today to give up rights to it when I can draw, I would take it in a second and never pay a dime in again.

1970 is a terrible, almost deceptive, year to use for comparisons like this. Because from about 1973 to 1982 we have inflation WAY above anything since. That's why minimum wage proponents use it as a base year.

Pick 1983 on and do a similar comparison.

US Inflation rate since 1960

The essential framework of this discussion - "BOOMERS BLAH BLAH.." is a non sequitur.

Further, the idea with which they make statements is as though demographic cohorts act as one - illustrates a bizarre lack of intellect and reasoning.

The education system has failed and maybe theirs is the first to fully personify this problem as shown.

Add to that college costs. And things like internet/cell phone that didn’t exist. All things boomers didn’t have to do shite with.

10% interest rate would require $3T in annual interest payments on federal debt. 2021 total federal revenue was $4T. We are fricked.
Makes the entire concept of depending on government for anything a stupid idea. Yet, millennials want government to take over healthcare, energy production, all sorts of stuff.
