As soon as I did that, a guy in a chevy avalanche back a ways, in the left lane stomps it, to get right beside me, so I can't pull over, when I slowed down a little,
I'd have planted the brakes, then tailgated the SOB a few feet back for miles.

How is this political? I may be reading it wrong but seems like just road rage?

Yeah, that impala is pretty weak though. I wanted to go after him, but after having to brake hard, to be able to get over, I couldn't catch back up fast enough, and he ran off and left me. Some people are just crap human beings to do things like that.

As I have said several times, he saw the cop on the shoulder, he didn't want me to give the cop room, and who knows, if I had let him stay beside me, he may have tried to edge me over, even closer to the cop. The political part of it, is just the hatred for the cops that many people have now.

I think you’re reading more into this and the guy didn’t say I hate cops lemme do this little maneuver. Sounds like a guy with road rage just not wanting to let you over

On a related note, in many if not most states the law requires that you get over into the lane opposite the emergency vehicle when (1) that vehicle's emergency lights are activated and (2) only if it's safe to get over, which you weren't necessarily able to do. I believe this requirement also applies to a civilian vehicle if it's emergency flashers are activated.

It wasn't road rage, that part of U.S.280,(between Alexander City and Sylacauga, Al.) has very light traffic. He had been behind me a maybe 3 or 4 car lengths, over in the left hand lane for a couple of miles, and had the opportunity to pass me, anytime he wanted, there were only a couple of other cars, even in sight on the highway, not counting the cop and the car he had pulled over. The only time that there is much traffic on that part of that highway, is on ball game days at Auburn. It's usually a very pleasant drive through there. No traffic and no lights, and that's how it was today.

That is correct, and it's just the decent thing to do. Even if it's a guy riding a bicycle or walking.

That's what this sounds more like.

If the guy was a cop hater, he'd be speeding in the right lane.

Yeah I've got a persistent fear of someone suddenly getting out into my lane of travel somehow, so I yield and yield often. It could happen so many ways.

He couldn't do that, because I was in the right lane. He was in the left lane. He sped up to get beside me, when I hit my signal to change lanes, and then when I eased back, so I could go behind him, he slowed down, trying to keep me from getting over to the left. Look, I am a truck driver with about 3 million miles over the road, I know when other drivers are playing fricked up games, and I knew exactly what he was up to. He's just a piece of garbage.

You don't think that kind of hatred for the cops, is political? I damn sure do.

I don;t think it was hatred for the cops. I think the guy is just a dick and wants to block someone from changing lanes. I see people do it all the time. They see that you want to change lanes and they speed up to cut you off.

People suck.

Nope, he saw the cop. That's the only reason I would have needed to make a lane change, I had clear highway for miles if I wanted to speed up. He saw the cop, there's no way he wouldn't have seen him. It was out in the clear, and The Avalanche is a much taller vehicle than that impala is, he could see right over my car. He saw the cop, and that's the reason he did it.

So did he see the cop or didn't he, dude?

That's some serious urban poetry you've got there.

Road Rage: an easy game to play and a hard game to win.

I still think about the old George Carlin quote, though:
"anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac."
True that. Today I was traveling on 1-10 between Baton Rouge and Lake Charles and I swear, everyone was either doing 90 or 50.
