Given the pay & the risk, can’t expect them to all be detectives.
Still, would be nice if they did something to filter out absolute head cases. Once had a state trooper pull out his phone at a crawfish boil & start showing pictures of mangled bodies from car accidents.
Somehow he thought this was the funniest shite of all time and made it a point to berate them posthumously for their driving skills… One of the more disturbing things I can ever recall lol.
I do know a couple detectives who are super cool guys, but it does feel like generally patrol cop culture is in a pretty awful place in this country.

Deputies raid Afroman's house on suspicion that he has a basement full of sex slaves and Afroman post the "Lemon Pound Cake" video to generate some case to pay for the repairs from when the deputies broke down his door.
The deputies then sued afroman for defamantion, and he responded with two additional videos:

So Deputy claims Afroman singing about sleeping with his wife has caused him “tremendous pain” as grounds for defamation.
The defense attorney states to the deputy that "we all know that is not true, correct?" and then the deputy responds "I do not know" and after realizing how stupid he is, the deputy ask, "you really want to go there?".

My small town deputies would find this hilarious. Of course there’s only 3 and we haven’t had a violent crime since 2018 and that was a domestic issue involving non residents from Florida
