These are the same people who Hitler would have led easily by the nose and likely would commit similar atrocities against political enemies if they know they can get away with it.

I guess there's a reason for talking about this in the media, but I can't figure it out. If he's looking to buy strategic assets, seems like private discussions would work better.

We have asked the Netherlands repeatedly over several administrations to expand our bases there and they have denied us. I believe Trump wants to cut out the middleman.

The reason being, almost all ICBMs launched by Russia and China will pass over the pole. We want (and have asked ) to start building interceptor there.

They have a 27% favorability rating and no big name/rising star candidates to run at the top of the ticket.

After the census in 2030, they can win PA, Wisconsin, and Michigan, and still would lose the electoral college without additional gains due to population trends. Their only path to victory will include winning all of AZ, PA, WI and MI, any single one of those stays red and they are out

They also will lose a dozen seats in congress, making it that much harder for them to win the house.

Gen Z is also the most conservative generation on record. Typically people get more conservative as they get older, its not a good sign for them that the youngest generation isnt deluded into thinking their shite dont stink

The DNC is cooked.

At least you recognize that

You best believe it, we’ll either get in on the action, or we’ll be watching the other big players get in on it. It’s one of those last frontier things.

4) we want to dump Puerto Rico because they take from us with little in return, so why do another similar situation.

It's funny you follow #3 with #4. Do the people of Puerto Rico have the same standard of living as people on the mainland? I would say no. They go months and longer without electricity after a hurricane.

5) being part of Denmark, I’m sure those people are ultra liberal, we don’t need more of the (same with Canada).

The citizens that want to be part of the US want to get away from the ultra liberals of Denmark.

I agree its a Monroe doctrine philosophically

also why Ive mentioned the Rubio play with Cuba

But that's not the conversation that is had here when I point out that it's silly all the people beating their chest about Greenland and the minerals and being willing to tank the Ukraine for Russia

But the Monroe Doctrine would be a worthwhile conversation

Monroe Doctrine yes... But this is more a throw back to the old days of Manifest Destiny. Back then Filibuster had a entirely different meaning

Considering the trajectory of dropping from 82M cores to substantially less, let's see where they land in the next election. Also, less than 30% of the population has a favorable opinion of the party

Dummy! Its not about Minerals, its about security. Having a base in Greenland to thwart Russia and China from getting a base there.

It's also mostly about that too. If its going to take a mostly US-backed NORAD to protect the Canadian shield from China and Russia then there is a mindset amongst a certain realpolitik type that their sovereignty is no longer a viable option for the United States security interests.

On #5, I think they want to get away from Denmark because they are being ignored. I believe just the fact that they are part of Denmark makes them ultra liberal, just because they know of no other way. After they get their payoff from us, they will surely make unreasonable demands and side with the left.

Mercator projection influencing our government’s day to day decision making

This is may not be the darkest timeline, but it’s definitely the dumbest

Also, for whatever its worth the increased interest in Greenland and Canada is precisely because the Earth is getting warmer and the ice caps are melting thus opening more viable waterways that the US Navy has a security interest in dominating.

This is how ignorant you libs are of how the world works. We are fighting for those things to prevent China for controlling these areas.

We can't let China get a foot hold this close to and the financial gains that China would receive would continue to put them as the leader in world wide exploitation of other countries resources.
