The only countries that turned on us are ones where we turned off the free money flow where we were being fleeced. Trump only wanted to decrease that amount and thats why they scream.

The relationship between Canada and the USA is strained because Canada chose to get in bed with China .... in a big way. The administration made that clear during Trump's first term, Canada subsequently ignore the problem (Trudeau + Biden), and then Trump got elected again.
Canada is merely running the same exact playbook they ran under Trudeau and Freedland ... exactly.
Canadian PM Carney knows exactly what he is doing. Carney’s antagonism is a feature of his commonwealth alignment with the European union, and understanding that takes you to a very dark place in this geopolitical dynamic.

After WW2, the U.S. sought allies against the USSR through economic means. The most overt example is the Marshal Plan.
Also we allowed our allies almost unfettered access to the U. S. Market guaranteed freedom of the seas with our navy, secured borders with our garrisoned army, and umbrella protection with nuclear deterrence. All of this was free of charge at the largest of the American tax payers.
This actually worked. We kept the Soviets at bay and converted the Germans and Japanese to democratic allies.
We decided to use the same formula against Communist China. It appeared to be working until the Chinese chose National Socialism at Tiananmen Square. Instead of stopping we doubled down because the elites could make money selling America to globalization. Just as Carney is doing to Canada now.
Trump has decided that it’s time to end the world’s free ride. He has called for our allies to fund their own defense, and is ending free access to the American market. No country offers tariffless access to their markets.
The world has accepted this America First policy with the exception of China and Canada. China is understandable because their existence depends upon globalization paid for by America. Aa

I wonder when the auto companies will be admonished to return jobs to the United States. Canadians are throwing a hissy fit. Next to the largest economy in the world in a country that mostly speaks the same language. And they've been convinced to blow it up.
The United States was negotiating in good faith. Canadians couldn't handle our need for change. They called it a war. And now they are going to turn to that collection of schizophrenic countries in Europe.
