Agreed. A respirator for those who have no choice but to go out, albeit as minimally as possible.

I’m sorry we need to be fair and balanced.

I’m not reading through everything to find it but TBoy if you’re throwing insults out it does not help your cause and makes you look like a child.

I assume nothing because I don't know them or their situation. I bet you're also one of those "live and let live, stay out of my business" conservatives and yet here you are being a judgmental prick.

This thread, and ones like it, don’t help anything. Lot of bold talk, but everyone would have to admit if they said if everyone wore masks for the next two months they would guarantee the college football season would be played, everyone on here and the South in general, would be wearing them.

I think 2 and 3 are right for a large portion of them, but the uneducated thing doesn’t work if you assume all the mask wearers are Democrats, given Democrats have higher educational attainment levels than Republicans. I’m not a Democrat, but those are just the facts. LINK

Unless you're wearing a properly fitted N-95 or better mask then you're just rolling the dice with the rest of them. I'd probably stay home if truly high risk.

So she has to quickly enter the store on her way home, because she’s nauseated and dehydrated and needs to grab a few necessary supplies.

I was shopping yesterday and encountered a black family, the women and kids anyway, all wearing masks. Looked like mom, grandma, two little girls and little boy.

I was right next to them with my wife while she was picking up a couple new pairs of flip flops for the kids, and mom and grandma started up a nice conversation with us and were very pleasant and we all laughed a lot complaining about the declining quality of footwear. Wife and I were not wearing masks and it sure didn't seem to bother them a bit, though weren't exactly right in each others faces. We were probably 4-6 feet apart at all times during the chat.

Should have prefaced this by saying this was a town in central Oklahoma that's demographics are about 55% white, 35% black, 10% other.

Shopping there, I haven't had anyone look at me sideways or anything for not wearing a mask since this all started.

I don't assume anything about people wearing masks. After conversation, I can reasonably speculate that the black family was likely wearing the mask as a precaution because they are all clearly very close to grandma and love her a great deal. She was getting around a little slow, in the "at risk" age bracket and a bit overweight, so I figured an abundance of caution by the family was not overkill at all.

I'd suggest you expand your assumptions. You sound like a woke leftist bitch trying to funnel everyone into distinct categories.

We don't need that shite on the right.

Stop judging people and just live your own fricking life as you see fit, and let your neighbors do the same.

Is that really so hard?

I know someone who fits this exact description who has been incredibly hurt by the things strangers have told her because she wears a mask because she has cancer.

To the interwebz badasses on here: you don't wanna wear a mask? Fine. Your choice. But don't judge others who choose to when you're patting yourself on the back for choosing not to.

Why are you making a straw man argument. I didn't say any of those things. I'm a recent stage IV lymphoma survivor, so I've been there. But if I'm putting on a bandana, a sock or a "surgical mask," then I'm not helping myself.

You people are weirdly insane and stupid these days.

Which media? Seeing as how I don’t pay attention CNN or FOX, I’ll say I do what I want. What business is it of yours?

In Washington State they are doing what to governor has asked them to. I wear one in public cause I assume it makes some people feel like we are doing something proactive. I am under no delusion that it does any good....the science suggests that they only help if used in conjunction with social distancing. I am also under no delusion that masks are nothing more than merely alleviating the pressure to curb social distancing.....in fact the state has signs all over state asking “Want to go into phase 2? Wear a mask”. And it is working.....folks are donning masks and going out more.....and it is going to increase cases.

I personally think we should have never shut down to begin with and let 3-5 million die if that is what would’ve happened. The damage we have done to individual finances and the economy will last for generations.....losing a small business is not something that is easily overcome.....kids losing half a year or more of education is as bad. The impact is, in my opinion, worse with what we have done than 5 million people dying, as regrettable as that would be.

This thing was going to be a disaster either way.....and it wasn’t unexpected, we have been lucky staying ahead of these things the last 100 years or so. Going forward we need to be better prepared for the inevitable and we need to recognize that shutting NYC may be necessary but shutting down Hahira Georgia maybe not so much. Schools need online classrooms set up and ready to go.....it couldn’t cost much to have a plan. Businesses should have adapted to technology years ago.....telecommuting should be far more common than it was in January. The whole thing has been a cluster frick which has been years in the making.
