Yes, it's a minor ethics violation. I stated as much already. It isn't more than that. Certainly doesn't even come anywhere close to the level of impeachment.

Supreme Court Travel
A look at the numbers of privately paid trips taken by Supreme Court justices from 2004-2014, ranked top to bottom by frequency of travel per year.

Scalia
258 trips in 11 years
23.5 trips per year

Breyer
185 trips in 11 years
16.8 trips per year

Sotomayor
67 trips in 5 years
13.4 trips per year

Kennedy
132 trips in 11 years
12.0 trips per year

Ginsburg
117 trips in 11 years
10.6 trips per year

Alito
83 trips in 9 years
10.1 trips per year

Kagan
33 trips in 4 years
8.3 trips per year

Thomas
86 trips in 11 years
7.8 trips per year

Roberts
48 trips in 10 years
4.8 trips per year

This is an old list so there may be more current info but back in 2014, Kagan was taking more trips than Thomas. In fact, ALL the liberal justices and almost all of the justices were taking more trips than Thomas as he was near the bottom of the list. Scalia was at the top, so this is obviously a bipartisan thing they are ALL doing.

Surely Democrats are guilty of crimes/violations. Why can't Republicans seem to find the dirt? Are they not looking?

Nah man, once you're a SCOTUS judge you can't go do anything with people you know. Totally unallowed.

Literally the first story linked in the OP's article

Supreme Court Justices Don't Have An Ethics Code

How is it a violation of the ethics code they don't have?

I agree that they should. But if they don't have an ethics code, they can't be violating it.

Pretty much every single one will take an all expense paid "teaching" position for various law schools' overseas summer programs every year.

Have any ever been asked to recuse themselves from any matters involving any such institutions because of this?

On Tuesday, we had the Manhattan DA charging Trump with 34 felonies which all reference covering up "another crime" but he does not name that "other crime" or charge him with that "other crime."

On Thursday, we have media blasting Clarence Thomas' alleged "ethics violation" but they fail to cite the ethics code or how this is a violation of it.

Seems legit.

The only impeachable offense would be acceptance of a bribe.

There’s a judicial conduct act.

If the guy wasn’t appearing before him there’s no way it was a bribe. If he had - Thomas could (and probably would) recuse himself.

Democrats are Bolsheviks.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said his committee “will act” following the report.

“The highest court in the land shouldn’t have the lowest ethical standards,” Durbin said in a statement. “Today’s Pro Publica report reveals that Justice Thomas has for years accepted luxury travel on private yachts and jets and a litany of other gifts that he failed to disclose. This behavior is simply inconsistent with the ethical standards the American people expect of any public servant, let alone a Justice on the Supreme Court.”

Democrats latched onto the report to raise calls for more scrutiny of the conservative justice.

“This secrecy is toxic and wrong,” tweeted Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), a Senate Judiciary Committee member who is one of the chamber’s top critics of Supreme Court ethics rules.

“The Court should not protect it any longer, and the Judicial Conference should look diligently and with urgency into this mess of front group briefs,” Whitehouse added.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) called for Thomas to be impeached.

And Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) tweeted, “The American people deserve a federal judiciary that is accountable to the rule of law, not wealthy Republican donors. Today’s news is a stark reminder that judges should be held to the highest ethical standards and free from conflicts of interest.”
