I've heard a lot of stupid opinions in my life. This is the worst by far.

What do Imperialist Monarchies and Fascist Dictatorships have to do with Western Civilization?

Well everything if we're being honest.

Democratic governments are fairly new. The original foundation started with Athens but it wouldn't really become a mainstay until the 18th century.

Monarchies were very authoritarian by today's standards. They were called absolute monarchies for a reason. Yes we had the Magna Carta and parliamentary bodies prior to the Democratic Republics. But the King or appointed ruler still had a considerable amount of power.

Many of the concepts found in Nazi Fascism are rooted in European history. Antisemitism, jingoism for ones native country, etc.

I don't like the frame of the OP, as both sides were technically doing what Western Civilizations have always done. The difference is the ideaology.

Eh, I dunno about that.

Absolutism didn't really get any traction until the 17th and 18th century. Before that, you were very much governed by your local lord and burghers associations.

In some respects, peasants (very much depending on their respective country, I'll qualify) had more every day freedom than what we enjoy.

I'll have to disagree again. Fascism was very much a response to liberal (in the classical sense) capitalism - as was communism. The conception of a citizen's obligation to the polity, and the formation of the government, was very much a modern invention. Sure, it took elements of previously existing thought and prejudices - but that is true for anything.

The modern era was a three-way fight between neoliberal capitalism, state communism/socialism, and fascism. Fascism got knocked out early in a tag-team effort and communism was toppled by inherent inefficiencies in resource allocation. Now we get to suffer and enjoy the fruits of global liberalism - mass commodification, fun toys, entertainment, etc. - but at the expense of purpose and belonging. We live in an atomized, secularized society that places individual interpretation (and consumption) above any higher sense of being.

What’s wrong with fighting for Zionism? You say it like it’s a bad thing. Did that fervent and righteously militant movement not result in the birth of our greatest ally?

Our greatest ally? The one that took military technology we gave them and sold it to our enemy? So many of you people have battered wife syndrome. Israel can steal from us, withhold information about imminent attacks, and actually attack us, and you will still get on your knees for them. It's really pathetic.

Sorry, the truth hurts.

Dear Old Granddad fought EXPLICITLY for mutilculturalism, and Zionism, and AGAINST nationalism and Western Civilization. All the while, in collusion with the Commies.

There's no such thing as an American WWII hero. They fought in favor of everything that is wrong with the world today.

I understand what you are saying, but information about the communist NWO was not prevalent back then. People relied on the media to give them the "truth." There were many brave soldiers, but they were sold a bill of goods.

Our soldiers today are still being misled, but there is enough information available that they should be aware. I believe most actually think they are fighting for our freedoms and doing something honorable. They just need to pay attention to what is going on and realize they are being lied to. The information is out there; most just really don't want to know because the truth is uncomfortable.

Lol wut. Surely you are not referring to Israel as our “greatest ally”?

That’s as retarded as the OP

I would be very, very surprised to find any collegiate history course taught by a faculty member that criticized American involvement in WWII because it helped established a globalist, multicultural order.

This is the most based post on the history of the board.

I disagree with you though. It’s not the soldiers fault FDR was a globalist. They were heroes because they fought against nations that attacked us and declared war on us.

The fact that the American political and economic elite used the outcome of the war to advance their agenda isn’t their fault.
