There must be some type of repercussion for the scandalous fake news

How can a media controlled by globalists continually run patently false stories about the leader of the most powerful free nation in earth? This is a threat to democracy, they should be arrested and put in prison. Lincoln did it

I've come to the opinion there should be some sort of "truth in advertising" liability involved in any broadcast entity which purports to be a "news" organization.
IF you present an item as 'newsworthy' then you should be required to identify all your sources for that item if it proves to be false - or materially misinformed in any substantial way - and that you should be liable for damages caused to any individual harmed by the report.
It is a very complex issue - but I think it is imperative that we differentiate anything that purports to be an honest conveyor of fact from those who engage in pure propaganda.
Propaganda is a staple of politics, but it should have its own niche - as in = "here is something the Democrat party would like for you to believe - ------"

I agree, we have freedom of the press but not freedom to lie, deceive, undermine, manipulate and corrupt.

The deep state has spent more on fake slanderous news than what Trump is asking for border security.

How do the three national broadcast networks continue to maintain an oligarchy?

This and how to regulate companies like Google and Facebook are the two biggest issues of our time. I feel like the market will eventually correct the news orgs. CNN gets such bad ratings.

Eh, let them lie - that only drives their stock down more.

Well, one would think that most people with half a brain and a reasonable mind would start questioning what they were being told, attempt to verify the information through other sources and eventually move away from the people/organization that continually put out half truths and outright lies....
Unfortunately people on both extremes are incapable of holding the organizations most on their “side” accountable....
In no way do I think the government should be or get involved with tamping down the organizations that do these things... at that point it becomes very easy to silence opposition voices in the name of requiring the “truth”...
We The People hold the key to holding these organizations accountable for delivering accurate information.

Couldn’t agree more! Was doing something around the house yesterday and the news was on. Don’t remember the story. But as soon as as they made their claim, they followed it with “but we have not confirmed this”.
So you’re just wanting to get it out there for judgment already, regardless of the validity of it.
What a shame.

I like the rule someone suggested that if you run a story that is false you should have to run the retraction the same way you ran the story.
So since we heard nothing but the buzfeed nonsense for 48 straight hours they should now have to spend 48 straight hours apologizing and explaining they were wrong.
Look at the Kavenaugh footage, specifically NBC and Julie Swtnik. How in the hell those people still have jobs is beyond me.

Does Buzzfeed still have a White House press pass after all the fake news they've printed?

The libel standard is ridiculous and unconstitutional
Activist judges who thought they were protecting journalism ended up destroying it

You can bet no repercussions will come from themselves. They seriously think what they are doing is heroic. They don't even blink at the thought that they have become no more than slaves to their ideological masters.
It's sick and revolting and goes against everything our great republic was founded on. I think the only solution is direct action such as tar and feathering and public hangings.
That probably sounds extreme but I predict the day will come when that is exactly what happens and they have earned every bit of it

My dad used to tell me that all the time when I was a teenager

and it has never been more true than now
there is an old term for what we are seeing, it is:
'yellow journalism'

Yeaaa every single story is fake news !! Why even watch the news anymore

Law should be passed requiring all corrections or retraction s to be run the exact same way as the original story did.
Front page above the fold for three days. Correction/retraction will be the same.
Lead story on nightly broadcast for three nights? Correction/retraction will get the same coverage.
