I rest my case (and saved you a lot of typing).

I don't care if President Trump or anyone else in the GOP "cares about me". I care if they execute the policy positions I hired them to execute. In 2015-2016, Donald Trump was the ONLY one of what 17? pretenders to the throne who showed at least a little willingness to do that. Which is why he is President Trump today.

I can agree military spending should be curbed or at a minimum made more efficient

And that was exactly what sequestration was doing, the branches had to defend their spending request and it capped annual increases.

It took DECADES to get to that point, decades.

Why would anyone want a president whose wife wasn't proud of her country until her husband was elected president?

One of the core roles of the national government is to provide a strong national defense. Why is the military budget always one of the first things mentioned as a problem? Seems it is the one thing we are spending money on that we are supposed to spend money on.

Dont forget we have to come to the aid of the UN and NATO too. The left got in a tizzy when Trump mentioned he might reduce the role there.

The left wants to reaffirm traditional commitments to NATO and the UN, yet reduce the budget. Seems the people that lose in that situation are the American people.

I love Trump but I have always been concerned about his stance on Syria and his infallible view of Israel.

No, it was not capping annual increases... You fell for another shell game hook line and sinker...

How many DECADES have we been without a budget?

Probably because the founders never intended for us to have a large standing military

You're actually going to defend Trump's establishment attachment with this jibberish?

P.S. If you're waiting for me to defend Obama....on ANYTHING, I would suggest that you didn't hold your breath.

Got a link to me saying this. McConnell and Ryan among others deserve the credit which Trump acknowledged

I'm not suggesting you specifically said it, just speaking in generalities.

Once again, if we're going to give Trump credit for tax cuts and the SC confirmations (and we rightfully should), then taking a little heat for failure to repeal is fair game IMO.

you will get no argument from me on this but my issue with military spending is two fold:

1. it is an old boy system and equipment/projects are funded based on political favors MORE than need of the service...

2. There is a TON of waste in the military, outside of the contract spending mentioned in #1. I have seen it, I have participated in it, and it is sickening... It can be more efficient and still provide for a strong defense...

BTW, I also think entitlement spending and farm subsidies should be cut significantly as well...

Almost 40% of our military power is in reserve units. The founders probably didnt foresee the cost of operating a nuclear carrier either.

Lets say we do reduce the standing military. Does that mean no restrictions on firearms for the citizens?

I don't want to see the day where every SCOTUS appointment is passed or rejected solely upon party lines, but that seems to be where we're going. I'm not putting 100% of the blame on trump, but at least in this instance I think he has to take more than 50% just based on who he nominated.

I almost started a thread on this the other day, but I'm pretty certain that ship has sailed.

You and Trump agree. Yet no politician will touch this golden goose.

You are probably right on entitlements, but farm subsidies is tricky. Farmers need some help, we are too dependent on them and they are too dependent on things that are outside of their control. We have to mitigate their risk to some degree.

A better question might be, "why won't Trump supporters address any of these topics about his administration?

Expanding government surveillance on its citizens.

Fattening the MIC.

Spending like a progressive.

Expanding war and continuing the establishment agenda in the Middle East (see Yemen....and the recent surge in Afghanistan).

Replenishing the swamp - John Bolton, Rudy Giuliani, etc.

Fortifying the Federal Reserve for the establishment (see recent chairman nomination).

No, they are not tricky other than the fact that they are ripe with corruption... I did not say do away with them but they need to be cut significantly...

Farmers should NOT be paid NOT to plant something... Also, subsidies, disaster payments, and government crop insurance are all different things...

These subsidies are the very reason the welfare programs are NEVER cut...

I wouldn't mind putting my corn and soybeans up for bid on an open world market. Let me sell them to the highest bidder.

I didnt vote for Trump , voted third party , but I support Trump. Let me list some things I'm not happy about though.

1. I'm not happy with the almost constant self inflicted wounds. He has enough people manufacturing shite against him without giving them more ammo

2. Jeff Sessions.I can't even begin to enumerate all the reasons I'm unhappy with this choice from Russia to focusing on of all things marijuana to we've yet to see one single person arrested for leaking classified material while Trump has been in office I am disgusted with Sessions as AG

3. As much as he talked about "draining the swamp" Trump sure has had a lot of his hires get caught up in swamp stuff

He fixes those three things and I'll be ecstatic.

Why would anyone be either pro Trump or anti Trump? Can we just go issue by issue here?
