That's an outstanding graph. Every department should be forced to demonstrate the value they provide the taxpayers.

In this case, The increase in spending has yielded zero value for these metrics. There may be others however (such as graduation rate).

Either way. It should the their responsibility to show their value.

You'll never cut the Democrat campaigns office. They are all democrats, all Liberal, they were active in Dem. campaigns and rewarded with a job, health insurance, and Pension. They used to give $20 every two week paycheck to the Democrat campaign fund and man phone banks on election day. I know. I used to be active. Employee unions control the building.

This is part of the real swamp that needs to be drained.

They contribute almost nothing to society.

Exactly. Gov't should be run like a business. In this case, the Dept of Education is a failing business model where the investments made do not yield increased results. I'm amazed that we've allowed it to continue this long.

This Department takes money from States and Municipalities, feeds itself, and then tells those states and towns what they must do to get a portion of their money back. Get the Federal government out of the education business! The offices in the Dept. Of Education:

The Fed Ed spends $622M on Compensation and Benefits. NONE of that hires a teacher for a school.

Average starting salary for teachers in the U.S. ~37K. Let's say an added 25% for benefits. At that, you could hire about 13K new teachers nationwide.

Or, perhaps you're happy with the number of teachers. K

You could kill the Fed Ed Department and give every last teacher a raise of more than $5K.

Remember that shite the next time someone tells you they being anti Fed Ed Dept = anti-education.

Shutting down the federal Department of Education is a must accomplish goal if we are to MAGA. You don't defeat an enemy by leaving their resupply lines intact.

The DOE is just as bad as the EPA.

I think folks who are in love with the Dept of Education should point to where the Constitution says that primary education is in the purview of the federal government, because I can in the Communist Manifesto.

Depart. of Education and the Dept of Energy should be booted at the same time.

That is out of control.

Get rid of it and let the states deal with education.

Wow! That graph is jaw-dropping. Obviously, spending has ZERO effect on test scores.

If only there were people who have been saying just that. If only.

I would wager a moon pie that the VAST majority of that spending is on special education (SPED). What isn’t shown is how SPED has drained state budgets. Given that SPED has watered down the curriculum while also simultaneously increasing the number of students deemed to need accommodations, I’m surprised the scores haven’t actually gone down. I have news for you, with many SPED students being eligible for Social Security as a result of their “exceptionality” (behavior disorders are my favorite designation), it’s only going to get worse. I would hazard an educated guess that in spite of only being roughly 10% of the current student population, that SPED students make up roughly half of all disciplinary issues. As I understand it, SPED students aren’t able to be suspended for more than 10 days in a school year. For the most part, they are untouchable and they know it. Sadly, many of these SPED students will go on to become problems for society. I wonder if Alton Sterling, Dillon Roof etc. were SPED. It would be interesting to know that info. Again, my guess is roughly have of the assholes causing issues in society were once deemed SPED students. The difference is, cops aren’t teachers. The police aren’t hamstrung to the point that teachers are IMHO, high profile events that concern police violence are probably saturated with low life SPED grads being belligerent. This theory makes sense to me as in my experience, SPED students have never had any accountability in school. Without hesitation, I say shut down the Department of Education. The damaged they have caused society is immeasurably bad at this point.
