The U.S. Army's 101st Airborne is practicing for war with Russia just miles from Ukraine's border

The U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division has been deployed to Europe for the first time in almost 80 years amid soaring tension between Russia and the American-led NATO military alliance. The light infantry unit, nicknamed the "Screaming Eagles," is trained to deploy on any battlefield in the world within hours, ready to fight.

CBS News joined the division's Deputy Commander, Brigadier General John Lubas, and Colonel Edwin Matthaidess, Commander of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, on a Black Hawk helicopter for the hour-long ride to the very edge of NATO territory — only around three miles from Romania's border with Ukraine.

No southern man should fight for this unjust war. Our war is against the corruption in DC and their war against american freedom and fairness. Anyone who supports the tranny army does so at their own destruction.

But Putin being paranoid about NATO having offensive weapons/troops directly on Russia's border with Ukraine is completely unjustifiable.

We have one of the most morally corrupt governments on the planet and I am so fricking sick of it. I am convinced something really bad is about to happen and it all could've easily been prevented.

Shouldn't Europe be the ones to take the lead?

So in a NATO country nowhere close to Russian forces or the front. Got it.

Are you under the impression that the military does anything other than prepare itself to fight?

This activity is nowhere near Russian territory.

Just more sensationalist reporting/spin.

Setting aside, I suppose, that this BCT from 101st is deployed with……the Romanian military.

Correct... it's on the furthest Eastern border of NATO territory. If Ukraine became part of NATO, what would the new furthest Eastern border of NATO be?

Correct but only around three miles from Romania's border with Ukraine.

Which means "boots on the ground" in a VERY Volatile region that could be considered provocative to a very edgy adversary.

The tank rounds and artillery fire were real. The drill was meant to recreate the battles Ukraine's forces are fighting every day against Russian troops.

So, to you it is no big deal?

Not sure this is accurate. The report was filed from Mihail Kogalniceanu, Romania. That is in the northeast of the country, but some distance from the Ukrainian border. The report says that they troops were engaged in an exercise only three miles from Ukraine, presumably in the same part of the country.

As I recall, the Russians are occupying Ukraine's Snake Island (of "Russian ship, go frick yourself" fame), which is only about 10 km off the coast of northeastern Romania.
