What are your thoughts, is Trump really calling for bombing of non-military cultural sites? Or was this just worded badly and that’s not really what he meant? And if he did mean it, do you support it and should that be our aim?

I trust the military has a list that was researched long ago.

I'd say it depends on where the targets are hanging out. If some of the top dogs hang out in some mosque intending to use it as a shield, why not? These groups are not above similar behavior.

Targeting culturally important things?

Seems like he's trying to get the Dem vote too.

It's a theocracy. Culture, religion, and politics are one in the same.

Eta. It's a Muslim theocracy so throw perpetual war in there too.

It's a trap to bring out the radicals out of hiding.

Iran has no culture post-Islam. All their culture was pre-Islam. (Zoroastrian, etc.) You have to remember, Islam is an invasive culture in Iran. Iran (Persia) was there long before Islam.

Maybe Iran is calling for the bombing of say, the Lincoln Memorial, or the Hearst Castle?

Oh, that would be terrorism? But .... if Trump did it, it’s somehow not? Lol. Wake up and smell the Internationalism.

Life is not Disney and Universal child. People are from all walks of life. Grow a pair and grow up.

Trump is a child and throwing a tantrum.

I didn’t say that. Rather my question was exploring people’s opinions on here about targeting cultural sites with no military value.

It’s wrong.

There is no question here. You can ask. You can think. It’s fricking wrong.

He's likely talking about the monuments they've built around the 1979 revolution. No reason not to hit those if you want to make a point without killing a lot of people.

In all seriousness, it’s not good and is a war crime.

I don’t think the US would destroy cultural sites purposefully and surely POTUS didn’t realize it’s a war crime. If he did I doubt he would’ve implied them as targets

Those bastards learned really quick that the US wouldn’t usually target them for strikes if there were cultural or religious monuments there. They can hide in mosque all day. They know the US isn’t dropping bombs on one of them. Think the tweet may have been a reference to that policy being a thing of the past

That mosque with that red flag on it would be the first thing I evaporated if I decided to go forward with attack. They would never find that flag!

He's trying to be as mean and hurtful as he can, because that is what he does. Unfortunately his moral compass is based on the early 20th century and the USA and world has evolved since then.

I don't think he would ever hit such targets, but then again he has little value for culture.
