These weren't enemy combatants and the two entities weren't at war.

I have no idea how someone can read these accounts and be like "well that's just the kind of shite that happens when you're at war, no biggie"

Please don't act as though you would be on a higher moral pane in similar circumstances. Brutality is not limited to one religious group or ethnicity. I find the line you say you won't cross is a line you've already crossed when you thought no one was looking.

I don't excuse the actions, but I'm not surprised when I hear about that it happens....because more often than not it does happen. I forgot to add Serbs doing it to Bosnians in the 1990s.

To Hamas it was seen as war or a struggle, in that respect then all Israelis are fair game in the minds of a member of Hamas. Their objective is to create as much terror as possible. Rape is a tool that they use in this instance.....along with guns, grenades and knives. It's designed to humiliate and demoralize.

It's something that man has been doing in war and invasion consistently for at least 3500 years. It should be the least surprising thing in a conflict, but then we are surprised when it happens.

Israel should wipe out Hamas in response as is the way.
