The Union Pacific Railroad is running their famous BigBoy steam locomotive cross country to celebrate our 250th. With Philadelphia set for July 4th. Along with the steam locomotive they are sending Diesel locomotives 1776, 1616-Abraham Lincoln, and.. 4547 Donald Trump.
The Trump train is going to cause quite a stir in Philadelphia..
If you have never seen the Union Pacific BigBoy, it’s impressive as hell.

My grandpa worked for Missouri Pacific in NLR. My earliest memory was of the Bicentennial train. I got to go on it and ride on it. I was 3.

I saw the Big Boy when it came to NOLA a couple of years ago. Its absolutely beautiful and huge.
It makes Louisiana's SP-745 look like a switch locomotive.

The SP MK-5 class was a beautiful locomotive in its own right. I grew up around 745’s sister engine SP-786.
But yes, a 600+ ton Big Boy makes the SP MK-5 at around 200 tons seem small.

An update on my favorite model locomotive growing up. My father kept if on a top memorabilia shelf until he moved a year ago.
One of the few things I want.
