On Kavanaugh: Still need 51 votes on the motion to proceed to the nomination and 51 votes on the vote to actually proceeding to the nomination. So they still need 51 votes.

Several things could happen on Kavanaugh: Senate could vote to move to the nomination..& then not hold procedural votes or move to vote on the nomination. Or...
McConnell could hold off completely, contingent upon Flake’s wishes..& then move on the nomination. Path is unclear now

Does his vote count towards the senate floor vote or does he have the opportunity to change it?

50-50+1 or 51-49 to pass?

Pence can vote for a tiebreaker I believe.

Pence can be the tie-breaker on approving the nomination. Not sure he can be a tie-breaker to close the floor debate and move to a vote.

Pence may decide this. Will we know when floor vote is scheduled by end of today?

Passage would require the same 51 votes for passage – or a 50-50 vote with Vice President Mike Pence breaking a tie – as the confirmation vote, so it will be a clear indication of where Kavanaugh stands. If a senator is planning to oppose Kavanaugh in the final vote, it is unlikely he or she would vote to end debate, because if that motion fails, McConnell could not bring the nomination up for confirmation. Debate, in effect, would continue in perpetuity.

Conversely, if Kavanaugh gets 50 or more votes on the procedural vote, he would likely get the same in the final vote.

The rules say at least 30 hours must pass after the procedural motion passes. That means if the motion to end debate were held early Monday, the final vote could come late in the day Tuesday.

Asked by reporters this week if he had enough Senate votes to approve Kavanaugh's nomination, McConnell replied: "I believe he'll be confirmed, yes."

If Jeff Flake ever worked in the private sector being as undependable and untrustworthy as he is right now, he would've been fired so fast we wouldn't have time to say uncle, he also would've been fired in the most humiliating way possible.

Sick. but good it gives Flake political cover because those elevator protesters said in the end that they will do this to him and his family every where he goes.

I think Flake is usually a POS fence sitter neverTrump scum. But I seriously think if he didn't do this they would have tried to Scalise him as he was the deciding voter

Flake is dead to me.

And now he's giving cover to Murkowski and Collins to "flake" along with him.

So, we're just about lost on this one folks.

No group of people in the history of this nation has been better at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory than post-war Republicans of the United States Senate. Masterful.

I agree Flake is a Flake. But it is over with him. Now the dems have no excuse to target him or his family. This.is.where.we.are.at

So where are we at? When does it appear the floor vote will be to confirm him?

In a week. Flake, Collins, and Murkowski will vote in a block.

The good thing is that if the GOP allows the up to a week for the FBI and it doesn't show anything, the red state Dems will have some cover to swing over.

But this all depends on if Flake stands firm on the length and scope of the FBI investigation.
