...has nothing to do with preventing mass shootings. If you look at El Paso, Dayton, and Las Vegas these measures would have prevented none of these incidents.

It's to make it more difficult for gun owners to pass love of the sport (and their firearms) to the next generation and thereby make guns an alien thing to move of them (making confiscation easier).

It's the second amendment equivalent of if the dems attempted to place age restrictions on bible ownership and baptism because hate.

They’ve been demonizing “gun culture” as weird, dangerous, fringe, for years. Their premise is that “no one need s a gun” so if you have one you must be guilty of something or paranoid.

I don’t think any of the shooters have come from a strong hunting or sports background.

Age Restrictions on Gun Purchases

The SCOTUS is going to shite all over this; the Constitution has set the age of an adult to 18.

I disagree with age restrictions, but I was given my guns as presents. I didn't purchase any as a minor. I think most people that grew up with guns had a similar experience. They may have bought one as a teenager but they probably were given their first gun.

That wouldn't prevent kids from hunting and shooting sports. I don't support new age restrictions though.

My kids don’t have to be able to purchase guns in order for me to pass on hunting to them. Neither did I. I’m going to give my kids a hand-me-down .410, single shot, crack barrel to start and then I’ll buy them their first 12 and probably a .243 when they graduate to the next level.

The Census Requirement

Although the Census Clause expressly provides for an enumeration of persons, Congress has expanded the scope of the census by including not only the free persons in the states, but also those in the territories, and by requiring all persons over eighteen years of age to answer an ever-lengthening list of inquiries concerning their personal and economic affairs.

18 and 1 day is over 18

26th amendment too; voting age

18 is the number

Age restrictions are actually the one area I think I'd compromise. They say the rational part of the human brain isn't fully developed until 25.

Rochester Health

Limit purchases to bolt or lever action / tube-fed rifles and tube-fed or breach loading shotguns until the age of 25. Exceptions for law enforcement and military of course.

With that would have to come concessions from the left as well. Raise the voting age to 25 along with it.

They say a lot of things.

Has already been used in a mass shooting.

Then what's the logic in allowing someone under 25 vote to decide the direction of the country's affairs?

Not an inch. Give them any ground and you’ll soon be defending the new ground you’re on that you thought was the compromise. They will never stop advancing bc they’re goal isn’t age restrictions on firearms, it’s disarmament. Giving in to age restrictions simply fuels their lust for more control. You can’t trust these people, it’s not a good faith negotiation

The kid needs to purchase the gun for this to happen?

You can join the military at 17 with parental consent, but you want to make them wait 8 more years to be able to buy a gun?

this is a ridiculous interpretation.

If an older person is passing along the “love“ of shooting and firearms to a younger person, this would’ve started long, long before the time or age that we are talking about, and it is not necessary to purchase the weapons for yourself in order to develop the “love“ in question.

I’ve been shooting guns since I was probably seven or eight years old. They were my parents guns to start with. After that, they purchased guns for me. I have lots of guns. And I did not purchase the first one for myself until I was well into my 20s.

Thankfully. Usually they're just spraying and praying.

Are you guys proposing banning under 25 year old from buying a gun but allowing possession?

They say kids aren't responsible enough to buy a gun at 16, but they want them to vote. They say a 12 year old shouldn't be allowed to smoke, but they should have unfettered access to hormone drugs and body mutilation.
