The United States Postal Service is removing mail sorting machines from facilities around the country without any official explanation or reason given, Motherboard has learned through interviews with postal workers and union officials. In many cases, these are the same machines that would be tasked with sorting ballots, calling into question promises made by Postmaster General Louis DeJoy that the USPS has “ample capacity” to handle the predicted surge in mail-in ballots.

Even to local union officials, USPS has not announced any policy, explained why they are doing this, what will happen to the machines and the workers who use them. Nor has management provided a rationale for dismantling and removing the machines from the facility rather than merely not operating them when they’re not needed.

While the consequences of this new policy are mostly unclear for now, it neatly fits with the sudden, opaque, and drastic changes made by DeJoy, a longtime Republican fundraiser and Trump donor, in the less than two months he’s been postmaster general. Like his other changes, including the curtailing of overtime resulting in the widespread mail delays and sudden reorganization of the entire USPS, it is possible to see some semblance of corporate logic while second-guessing the decision to make drastic changes on the eve of the presidential election in which the USPS will play a critical role.

Obviously I don’t want Biden to win but I’m not a huge fan of limiting democracy to suit your needs as president.

This is going to be the dirtiest election we've ever witnessed. Good news is all 500 million US citizens will have their vote cast!

Sounds good. Let’s remove them from post offices in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, Florida, and Arizona.

It’s really not complicated, but then the only people that actually believe the left wants more people to vote still think Russia rigged an election. The left wants more of the right kind of votes.

You can’t fix stupid.

USPS can't manage to deliver a certified letter or package from Amazon nowadays, much less manage a crooked vote-by-mail campaign.

I get why he is doing it but if you are going to do away with it be consistent. Get rid of mail in voting for all states and counties. Not just the Democrat ones. I agree the system could be easily taken advantage of right now. In a better world it would be heavily vetted. But I don’t like the removal of mail in voting in some places but not others where he thinks he will win. All or nothing.

Also, if Obama did this TD would be melting their arse off

They also installed new Covid infectors that are applied to registered Democrat's mail.

If you look close you can see it here:

Large scale voting by mail isn’t democracy.

You do realize absentee and "mail in" are totally different systems?

They asked for more money while being billions in debt to support the incoming storm of mail in ballots.

frick that.

Why do y'all keep supporting poorly run agencies and want them to run your fricking healthcare?

And don't be the idiot that blames the usps failings on a guy that's been in government for 4 years.

The USPS's money woes stem from the 2006 PAEA which forced them to pay in advance the retirement and health benefits for all its workers 50 years in advance and locked the maximum increases in postage rates to inflation rates.

The current slow down is a result of the changes instituted by the new PMG and he explicitly said these changes would result in slowdowns. In as much as you assign blame of the appointee to the appointor then Trump carries that burden of blame.

We know Trump does not want nationwide mail-in voting. The result of the actions of his appointee is and will be pointed to as a reason not to have mail-in voting. Ask yourself if this were Obama would you see it as a mere correlation or would you assign causation.

So you are chastising this guy for being right. Don't blame Trump because the USPS is a sinking ship since even before 2006.

But no one is talking about slowdowns. The USPS has been hemorrhaging money forever. Amazon gave them a little life, but took them to the woodshed at the same time.

Anyone who is honest and has half a brain doesn't want this. At least not slapped together in 3 months for the most important election.

No it's not. It's the total cluster frick that has happened in NJ, Conn, VA, NY etc with mail in ballots and fraud.
