The news networks have become an absolute joke, and have lost a lot of credibility and trust. We can't have that, can we?
Along comes Hollywood to save the day, with a movie about intrepid journalists that rebel against the evil government and speak truth to power despite fear of getting squashed by the evil administration.
Root for the honest, wonderful, underdog journalists folks! They have our best interests at heart!

Journalist think they have a moral obligation to tell society beneath them what and how to think, and now that their power is slipping, mostly because of social media and the internet, they are in full panic mode. Being unable to control the narrative is causing a crisis among them. Even besides that, they are not used to be outright mocked which is absolutely crushing to them.

100% truth. Right now, they are wailing about threats to "freedom of the press" despite the fact that no one is silencing or stopping them. People are simply tuning out and getting information elsewhere.
