Not likely asked

How is asking questions “so angry “?

And what gossip?

Personally, I feel a bit icky doing this research because I have the utmost respect for military aviators. That being said, the identity of the pilot shouldn't be hard to find.

We know the unit involved:

Company B, 12th Aviation Battalion

I'm really surprised the name hasn't been leaked. FWIW, according to Wikipedia, here is the commander of the battalion (I can't imagine the pain this has caused the entire unit):

I believe in being respectful to the dead until I have a reason to not be.

I'm sure the family of the pilot will get some unwanted bashing and harassment, and they dont deserve that.

Hopefully they find some peace through all of this.

Have they still not said a name?

I've heard "Hyde, Samuel" as the culprit.

If you were the family member to one of the 69 he/she killed, you would not feel the same way. This was a tragedy that should have been avoided. Again, gross incompetence or it being intentional does not change things. The people are all still dead and the families grieving...and Roger is on here defending and grieving for the Pilot only. This tells me a lot about Roger, but also, from seeing your other communications with other posters, you have literally lost it...Trump broke you. My guess is that you are off the wagon again, after doing so well.

The family of the pilot requested time to grieve.

Let them have that time.

One doesn’t have much to do with the other.

I understand them asking for a window to notify family. Hell, if it were my son I’d want 48 hours so once the CAO knocked on my door I can start calling family and friends. After that though the grieving process isn’t going to change if his name is or isn’t released.

My son is on a Blackhawk flight crew and my phone blows up every time there is a Blackhawk that goes down. He flies about 90% at night. One crazy thing, there is a lot of talk about how little flight time Army crews get and he flies what other crews get annually in about a month.

He’ll, last week he flew around 30 hours.

Just as a reminder that we are dealing with real people with real lives, in doing research on the battalion commander, LTC Holowina, I came across this story about a soldier who died in Iraq....

"Martin returned to Iraq, and his then-fiancée, 1st Lt. Erika Holowina, was deployed in the same area as a MedEvac pilot. Coincidentally, she was supporting his unit."

I don't understand the 'feeling icky' part. Nor do I see how there's any disrespect aspect to this one bit. All YOU'RE doing is accessing information. There's no ill intent on your part, it seems, whatsoever. Whether that info you're disseminating is germane to the issue remains to be seen. Time will tell.

But this is about those refusing to release information to the public. THEY are the ones doing this, for reasons yet unknown.

The public has a right to know.

Crazy. Not like this hasn't been a known issue and major concern for ages. Apparently there was a close call with another helicopter the night before. People pushed it and finally happened.

According to this it doesn't appear to be her.

“Each of our fallen Soldiers were exceptional leaders and teammates. Their legacy and honorable service to our Nation will forever remain,” said Lt. Col. Erika A. Holownia, commander of the 12th Aviation Battalion. “Their experience and dedication made our unit better, every day. As we mourn this tragic loss, our top priority is supporting their families, friends, and fellow Soldiers. Our thoughts and prayers are also with the families and friends of American Eagle Flight 5342.”

What made you decide this was the pilot? Did you just find a female associated with that battalion and post it?

She’s the commander and has spoken out since the crash.
