First rule of war should be to fight to win not hearts and minds , use the hearts and mind strategies for after submission. I cannot believe we could spend all the blood and money on fighting on two fronts in WW11 and numerous battles on half the earth and couldn’t win here . They chose to appease locals and warlords which that’s a lost cause, take out the human infrastructure of command and certainly the crime syndicates . Should have filled the territory immediately with 10’s of thousands fighters and closed shop in 6-12 months back in the early part of 2000’s . 20 frocking years of pstd for Americans on a cia op

Biden decided to pull the air support their military relied upon from Afghanistan. Not only that, but he refused to allow U.S. contractors to come into Afghanistan to make repairs on the air equipment we left behind for them.

What a rotten thing to do, set them up for failure, then throw them under the bus.

You can't have a failure this immense without a large portion of their military simply welcoming them in. We are applying our social contracts to an area that doesn't support them by and large.

You do realize that Bedouins and Pashtuns are totally different groups of people who are from different parts of the world?

Afghan army outnumbered Tally by more than 3:1

Trained by US. Clearly a failure by us to not have them prepared to be on their own.

As a result, those isolated bases now under Afghan military control could no longer be resupplied from the air and had to be evacuated

You can have Mike Tyson in your ear for ten years telling you all the secrets to being a great boxer but as soon you step in the ring for the first time all of that goes out the window.

That's hardly analogous to what happened here. A better analogy would be to have Mike Tyson telling you all of his secrets for a decade and then, when the moment came to enter the ring, your boxing gloves were taken away from you just before the opening bell.
