The people who are knocking the Afghan military for its collapse are forgetting something

We, meaning the United States Armed Forces, trained the Afghan military for two decades. We schooled them in our military strategies and doctrines. The most important doctrine that has sustained U.S. military dominance since World War II has been air supremacy. There has always been a close relationship between ground combat and close air support. We also set up bases all over Afghanistan that could only be resupplied from the air.
Against the advice of his senior military commanders and national security advisers, Biden decided to pull the air support their military relied upon from Afghanistan. Not only that, but he refused to allow U.S. contractors to come into Afghanistan to make repairs on the air equipment we left behind for them. So what happened? We removed an essential element to the doctrines and tactics that we taught the Afghan military leadership for 20 years.
As a result, those isolated bases now under Afghan military control could no longer be resupplied from the air and had to be evacuated. The loss of close air support was no doubt a huge blow to Afghan morale and likely played a big factor in their eventual collapse. Biden trying to shift the blame to the lack of effort made by the Afghan military ignores the vital fact that he made it harder for them to defend their country when we trained them for years on the importance of close air support - and then took that close air support away from them practically over night.

This. Been reading quite a bit about this from people critical of our withdrawal.
Maybe the Afghans would have still folded like a cheap lawn chair even with our remote help, but we really kicked the legs out from under them on our way out.

President* Biden and Susan Rice cut them off at the knees.
Yet, the Afghan Army has suffered a great number of casualties in their fight against the Taliban.

The Afghan Army had 20-years to prepare for this.
F*** them and their country. Bunch of cowards!

Spot on.
Regular ANA were faced with the choice of fighting till they ran out of supplies and were killed or just giving up.
Not many of us would choose option A.

After 20 FREAKING YEARS and A TRILLION SPENT if those Bedouin fools can’t pick up and carryon on their own, they never will.
We got out ten years too late.

A big part of what was done there was to locate or make contact with the enemy. Then call in air support.
If you are attacked. Call in the air support as a shield.
Terrain was difficult and the enemy always had the logistical advantage. If you got too aggressive you ended up in an ambush.

We trained the Afghan Army to fight the style of war we fight, namely one where air support plays a vital role. When Biden pulled out, he also pulled the private contractors who maintained Afghan air asset. We literally took their air cover.

Then explain why. The OPs post doesn't explain everything, but it is a solid assessment of much of the military aspect of the conflict.
Fought a lot in Afghanistan and I wouldn't be here today without Close Air Support, Artillery and Air Supply.

The apologist love to claim this is trumps doing. But this isn’t his exit strategy. What they fail to grasp is that Biden extended the exit date but did nothing to facilitate the leaving of the country. They were just gonna pack up & leave over a long weekend apparently. Add that the lack of air support, and you have an entirely different plan than what Trump was offering.
This is entirely on Biden. Just in case anybody was still confused.

You think all that money was spent on the Afghan army? It mostly went into social engineering programs. The RHINOs never thought we’d leave and the Left wanted to build another Cuba. Very little was done to create a self sustaining military in Afghanistan.

This now red-pilled former Biden voter, noted that more Afghan Army personnel died every year than Americans have in 20 years. He was CIA and deep in the field.

It's been reported by several vets who served there that the Afghan forces were often under / not paid, suffered repeated shortages of food & supplies, officers who were openly corrupt, etc.As a result, many of those in the army became disenchanted over time & came to only care about themselves & their families. It's not nearly as simple as calling them cowards.

Biden took all that away from the Afghan army when he pulled everyone out. This is why the Afghan army collapsed.

This contradicts literally every account I’ve read about the fighting will of the Afghan military. Zero discipline in the ANA, constant fear of Green on Blue scenarios, common retreats from gunfights to let the Americans handle it and constant thievery of anything that can be sold to get their hands on drugs.

Oh, I’m sure you are an authority. How in the world can you stomach spouting out that nonsense?
We had the Marshal plan on WW2 and yes, they knew millions of Germans would starve to death in making the victory an absolute victory before supplies could reach the logistical necessity required to save the remaining.
They did it.
The whole Afghan mission was a joke and more so a travesty destined to fail long before boots were on the ground.

This is true. Plus he withdrew in the middle of the fighting season. He should have waited a few months until the winter. He could habe supplied air support, contractors and intelligence until then. One might say, yes but Trump was going to withdraw May 1. That withdrawal was based on contingencies that the Taliban agreed to. If they broke them, there were consequences. They would not have broke those agreements if they knew we would bomb the hell out of them.
Plus one should remember: I have heard that up to 50000 Afghan soldiers died fighting in that war. With air support and intelligence they were able to hold off several previous Taliban offenses and fought them to a stalemate. When Biden pulled the plug, they folded just as the S. Vietnamese army did after we cut off support.

It was probably that tactical genius Susan Rice pulling President* Biden's puppet strings.
