I was really hoping you would say that. When you figure out why your statement is off the charts ridiculous, come back and see me.

Maybe look at pumping waters from the oceans to operate the locks?

For the tenth time, saltwater isn’t an option. That’s not how the canal works. It’s too long and relies on too much of its length to be dozens of feet above sea level in a man-made lake.

Google the Panama Canal, educate yourself, and return.

It has to be related to the tilt of the earth. I mean, when you tilt a cup of water too much ..... or THIS!!

Spoiler alert ---- The huge amount of water vapor hurled into the atmosphere, as detected by NASA’s Microwave Limb Sounder, could end up temporarily warming Earth’s surface.

We gave it back to Panama. It is Panama's problem unless they want to reconcile and reunite with Columbia. In which case it would become Columbia's problem.

The canal connecting the Atlantic to the Pacific is drying up? Yeah, maybe shouldn't have sold out to the Chinese, you communist dirtbag.

It's not a canal, it's a series of locks. I have not heard that either the Atlantic or the Pacific is drying up, so both ends of the lock are OK. I was not aware that additional water was needed, but if it is, they should be able to just push it up the chain of locks using the pumps in the locks. This is either a non-problem or a problem that can be solved with a couple of hoses.

No, it’s a scale problem. The amount of water the locks hold is statistically negligible compared to the amount of water in Gatun Lake.

Maybe Panama should use some of the Canal's profits to retrofit the old locks to use water saving basins like the new canal locks do. Oh wait, that would require them to divert money away from their socialists programs and/or corruption.

I would say that the use of fresh water in Panama directly effects the Chinese economy.

Most sensible sentence in this post. They aren't easy to find because there aren't any!

Pipeline to the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Desalination plants that empty into Gatun Lake at the end of said pipelines.

the canal was built with 2 locks. Lifting ships 35 ft. In 2007,a third lock was built for larger ships raising to 85 ft. Finished in about 2017, NOW there is not enough water. It Almost seems like a larger canal is taking more water. who would have thought that?

Yep, it's all OUR fault. Let's shut the Canal down and see who suffers most

Wow. This board is the largest collection of ignorance ever assembled.

As someone who has sailed thru the Panama Canal, let me help you. Regardless of which side you start on, you traverse a series of locks, just as you stated. But then, there is an hours long voyage thru canals and then Gatun Lake and then more canals before reaching another set of locks on the other side. The section of the canal this article is alluding to is the big arse section of freshwater canals and lakes in between the two sets of locks.
