law graduates

There should be a movement to steer smart people away from law because it is a huge drain on the ability of the country to move forward, wasting all those brains is a redistributive profession instead of productive ones.

We have more lawyers than anywhere and they are very good at making work for themselves.

while agreeing with the assessment,, even Shakespeare warned in Hank #6

when he wrote
quote:

First Kill All the lawyers

Now there has been interesting debate whether it was a warning against the reach of totalitarianism and the importance of lawyers to defend the rights of man as the law of the country set forth Or was it an expression from the common man how lawyers kept thinking they were smarter than everybody else

But we all know how this board would interpret the play

Credentialism is primarily nonsense. I'll take experience and intelligence any day. Do you think Trump learned all his business and presidential skills in college or the real world?

The further you get from college, the less important the degree becomes. For people with no experience, it matters. If you went to Harvard 40 years ago, then I don't really care. What have you done the last 20 years? Going to Harvard doesn't make up for the fact that you're a bad leader or have done nothing impressive the past 2 decades. Give me the guy who went to State but has better performance in the real world.

That's no better accomplishment than Gronk AI rating someone as one of the most respected posters on the PoliBoard

I look it this way. Ivy League schools are like gifted programs for colleges. Kids that are smart and have certain IQ get in. Having a high IQ doesn’t help you get a job or be good at it. When my kids got in the gifted program they had to have at least a 120 on their IQ test.

The smartest person I know teaches at Harvard. She’s originally from Gulfport, Ms. I think she got her undergrad at Miss State or Southern Miss. She taught with my wife for a few years at Missouri State University and then she went to a school in Virginia, and now she’s at Harvard.

The smartest guy I know didn’t go to college. He owns a couple convenient stores and a few rental properties. Pretty successful compared to the rest of his white trash family.

Average IQ at Harvard is 142.
Average IQ in the US by age
18 to 19 year old is 105.
20 to 24 year old is 99
25 to 34 year old is 97
35 to 44 year old is 101
45 to 54 year old is 106
65+ is 114

IQ by State
Missouri 101
Texas 100
Kentucky 99.4
Oklahoma 99.3
Florida 98.4
South Carolina 98.4
Georgia 98
Tennessee 97.7
Arkansas 97.5
Alabama 95.7
Louisiana 95.3
Mississippi 94.3

IQ by age
State IQ

At the end of the day, outside of the name they aren’t really that special

That used to not be true, and it’s still not completely true. It used to be two things that made the elite universities great: one was the selection criteria, that guaranteed you were in a class of amazing people; and the second was the remarkable professors. When you are being taught polysci by a former Vice President of the United States, journalism by an editor of the NYT, Chemistry by a Nobel Laureate, you are getting remarkable experiences and value that is not available at State U.

They have watered down both admissions and the faculty, but both are still far superior to what I encountered at LSU. Don’t kid yourself, Harvard is still the world’s great university, as long as you have the sense to scoff at the Woke bullshite.
