Weird i thought the Russians blew up everyone on Snake Island

People should go back to Putin’s original statements and square that to what’s happening now on the ground. All this talk about chemical and nuclear weapons, taking over nato countries, ww3, occupying Ukraine, etc is all bullshite lies spread by the west
Nah.
Russians saying they are radically reducing hostilities around Kiev is like CNN saying mostly peaceful protests.
They’re just words to distract from what’s really happening… which is a Russian retreat from the Kiev region due to combat ineffectiveness.

Regardless of if they got killed on the island or were captured, the "Russian Warship, go frick yourself" response is a pretty epic reply.

Looks like neither happened

If this actually happened it would be funny

The line loses all weight because they did peacefully surrender.
McAuliffe‘s line at Bastogne “nuts” only resonates, because he didn’t surrender, and his men continued to fight until they were relieved.

What are you bitching about, it's a Twitter link, there are lots of them posted on here every day?

They’re moving men from Kiev to the Donbas.
This isn’t a good thing for the Ukrainians.

Huh? The alternative is Russia successfully capturing Kiev and dealing a critical blow to the Ukrainian armed forces and their moral. Zelensky would likely be killed. Huge credit to the Ukrainians successfully fending off one of the world most powerful militaries. Kiev will still stand for many years to come because of their heroics.

In anyone's book, Russia pulling back from Kyiv is a win for Ukraine. They didn't win the war, but they won that battle.

To be fair, I wouldn't say Ukraine stands any hope of "winning" anything.
They can sustain their independence as a sovereign state. They might outlast the Russian attempt to conquer the whole country.
Millions displaced. By the time this is all done, millions of Ukrainians might be dead. It's pretty awful.
Now, Russia? Yeah, Russia is lost. I can't see them recovering from this - at least not under Putin. If they can get him out of power, they stand a chance.

Yeah people don’t get that destroying the Ukrainian army is way more important and achievable than capturing Kiev. Russia captures Kiev, Ukraine just relocates its capital to the west, Russia has to tie down resources to maintain control, and etc.
However, I don’t have a CNN approved Twitter link to support me so I guess I’m wrong lol

What a ridiculous comment.

Most of the Ukrainian Army is deployed in the Donbas, along a long front with the DPR that edges into the LPR. The northern anchor of this line is Severodonetsk. The line is heavily fortified, with several layers permanent fixed defenses. Attacking it head on is a losing proposition.
The Russians are currently in a position to envelop this line from both the north and the south, but they don’t have enough men available to do this.
Shifting forces will allow them to.
The Russians could also cut their supply lines by capturing Dnipro.
If the Russians do either, the Ukrainians will be forced to choose between staying put, or retreating under enemy fire. Both are bad options.
Destroying these units would win with war for Russia.

The American analogy is the Continental Army.
Washington’s primary goal during the revolution was simply keeping his army alive. Preserving the army was more important than holding New York City, for example. The revolution could survive the capture of New York, it couldn’t survive the destruction of Washington’s forces.

I don't know how accurate this map is, but here is a map representing the current deployment of the Ukrainian Army.
You can see they do have a pretty good concentration of troops in the Donbas region, but it's certainly not close to their entire army such that the loss of those forces would not be the bulk of their Army.

Never believe what a Russian will say! They are most likely moving them out of harms way when they start bombing or using chemical weapons.

Russia is no where close to Dnipro based on current open source intel. Also with the exception of Kherson Russia has not been able to conquer a city quickly. Russia didn’t have to cross a river under fire to capture Mariupol, but they still haven’t able to capture it and secure it despite 3+ weeks of shelling the city to rubble. What makes you think that Russia could redeploy it’s forces, extend its logistics, protect those logistics, cross a river under fire, and capture capture Dnipro before Ukrainian forces redeploy from the Kyiv area or western Ukraine?

Most of the Ukrainian Army is deployed in the Donbas
As others have said, based on open source intel the Ukrainians do have a lot of forces in that area, but I don’t know if it’s MOST of their army.

There’s been a war in that region for quite some time

Yes. I think it will be 8 years in May.
