It sounds rather like you are the broken one. You can’t seem to detach yourself from emotion and bias and view this conflict purely from a geopolitical viewpoint.
It doesn’t matter if Ukraine was exercising the “will of the people”(and I disagree that it was truly the will of the people), Ukraines actions did, in point-of-fact, provoke Russia to war. Or is this war all fake news, a mirage?
On the flip side yes: invading Ukraine is justified in Russia’s eyes. From his standpoint Putin attempted for years to work it out via diplomacy at the UN etc, and apparently gave up on said diplomacy. Russia is simply exercising its own foreign policy prerogatives. Well, actually there will be more diplomacy after the war, but it will be too late for thousands of innocent civilians.

1) This is highly disturbing if true. From @BBC: "Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that the invaders were '20 miles, and closing, from Ukraine’s second largest nuclear facility.'" This would be the Yuzhoukrainsk nuclear facility.
