You don't actually believe crime stats have remained consistent in their tabulations?

I'll give you San Franciso and LA for sure. Good call on those. They probably fall in the 5 percent that aren't nicer and safer than they were 30 or 40 years ago.
You are seriously think LA and San Francisco are more dangerous now than the early 90s?
It’s objectively safer today by every metric. The homicide rate in Los Angeles was 3.5 times higher in 1990 than it is today.

Says the guy who quoted six-month stats based on an embarrassingly shrunken population denominator?

i know know, anything positive must be dismissed to maintain your narrative. It’s hard to watch

Multiple people in this thread have out debated you.

much moreso than it is today by a wide margin
Well, you’re wrong.
In 1979, Police Districts 5 and 6 combined for roughly half the murders, nearly half the rapes and nearly half the robberies for 8 police districts.
Geographically, 5 and 6 are relatively small versus Districts 2, 3, 4 and 7.

This thread is full of a bunch of grumpy men chiming in from other states or North LA to convince locals how terrible New Orleans is.

It’s the 7th most dangerous city in the United States. There is no scenario where the 7th most dangerous city in the United States isn’t a shithole. Now it can be your shithole and you can tolerate the crime for a myriad of reasons, but it is emphatically a shithole.

Yep! The guy is in jail. He was 19 years old black man. He already had a kid. I feel sorry for his kid.

I'm not from out of state or north La and have been going to New Orleans probably longer than you have been alive.
It is not better than it used to be.
You conveniently ignored all the facts I posted countering your earlier argument. Why?

New Orleans experienced the fastest population decline among all major metropolitan areas in the United States between 2020 and 2024, according to Census Bureau estimates.
Yea, it’s just grumpy old guys from other states that know that place is a shithole. That definitely explains why its experiencing the fastest population decline among all major metropolitan areas in the United States during a time when multiple other areas in the region are experiencing the exact opposite.

it’s grumpy old guys who never lived there and never did anything non touristy
no shite you live near a big city and do their tourist things 3 or 4 times and then get bored.
that’s not all the city is though. I know that’s really hard for most of you who earnestly believe your experience is the only legitimate one, but living in new orleans and visiting new orleans are two different things.
i’m so sorry you’re confronted with the reality that your perspective isn’t all there is. i know it’s hard. other people have opinions you may not like.

Yep. So different that the people live there leave it just like the people that don’t live there at a rate higher than any other major metro area in the United States for the last 5 years.

Clearly not nearly as hard as coming to terms with the fact that your perspective isn’t legitimate at all, as evidenced by your complete refusal to even attempt to argue against facts proving it’s not.

Specifically What isn’t better?
Crime objectively has improved. The FQ is cleaner.
What’s worse: very few 24 hour food spots left after Covid. Voodoo fest hasn’t been back either.

Well I mean crooks, criminals, thugs, lowlives, degenerates, hoodlums, heathens, hellions, and na’er do wells know what their mayor is capable of ..
