t's like they think conservatives will suddenly agree with them if George W. Bush does. W didn't end his term as one of the most hated presidents of all time just because democrats didn't like him. He betrayed his base big time. Even if we still think he'd be a cool guy to drink a beer and watch a Rangers game with, he was an absolute traitor to the conservative cause with programs like TARP, No Child Left Behind, Medicare Part D, and the Patriot Act.

I imagine I feel the same way about W that most democrats feel about Jimmy Carter. He was a nice guy, but a terrible terrible president.
you forgot the financial collapse that happeneded on his watch that lead directly to BHO.

I voted for uncle George.... mostly bc I thought he was conservative and a better than choice than John Kerry. Turns out, they’re both globalist pieces of shite and I hope Donnie 9 inch goes in dry on these scumbag traitors

You have mistaken me kind sir I am just pointing out hypocrisy. The Democrats of full of idiotic ideals that are ruing the country just as much

Democrats = terrible
Republicans = terrible

so therefore Republicans = Democrats

calling out one side for hypocrisy is a pot kettle situation if I've ever seen one.

W is their ally because he's no longer a threat.

You hit him with the truth. He knows it. Says something totally unrelated to change subject.

The liberal way.

And now that they are exalting W as a wise and sage man, they forgot how their leader told us the Russians were no threat at all and that anyone thinking so was living in the past.

It really is something how these people can do a complete 180 and they keep the full support of the MSM.

Honestly, the cry of hypocrisy from anyone in or paying attention to politics is just lazy, low-hanging fruit. We're all hypocrites to some degree. Using hypocrisy as a political bludgeon is tired and ineffective IMO.

I think it's deeper than using W. as a means to criticize Trump. I think you're seeing an actual paradigm shift in politics, where neocons and neolibs are in agreement on most issues, particularly those involving an interventionist foreign policy abroad and unchecked mass surveillance at home.

The Republican Party today is, thankfully, becoming more like Rand Paul than it is Bush and the neocons he surrounded himself with. I think that trend will continue, especially when old neocons like McCain leave office. Contrast that with the Bush people. Many of them are Never Trumpers. Almost all of W's advisors openly campaigned for Hillary Clinton. The Democrats, in their zeal to opppse Trump, have gotten in bed with the most illiberal and autocratic faction of the Republican Party.

That must be why the party elected a Democrat from New York.

Maybe they're finally seeing him for who he is... a big government progressive Republican. They're cool with that.

Whataboutism in this case is actually your entire point. You’re criticizing people for doing the exact same thing you’re doing.

Only difference is one fits your narrative and one doesn’t.

Actually Bush forgiving these people is a sign that he does not share the same mindset that conservatives have today and had during his Presidency.

You should think less of him if he forgives them.
