Nah, the rich in New York, California, and Illinois are far richer than the "rich" in most of the red states. I know plenty of conservatives in New York who are critical of the Democrat elites who at their hearts are conservative but vote Democrat because they can afford to.

Good response. For perspective, I'm referring to the midwestern states as Blue because since the 1980 shift they're almost always blue, and southern states as red because even though a state like North Carolina has gone blue occasionally since 1980, it and the southern states are traditionally red.
