It doesn't matter if it's true. Trump is sending a message, and at the same time causing folks to educate themselves. So, not only is Trump taking a stance, but we are also educating ourselves in the process. I call that a win-win.

So the portion of the article that cites a letter saying this is not true then?

What other sources do the historians cite?

The article given is complete BS and dishonest otherwise. The reasons they provide hardly contain fact but rather opinion.

How do you know it didnt happen
is that how you think things should work, not just in general but with the President of the United States in particular?

so if i tweet that your wife sucked me off, and i identify her by name, should everyone now proceed as if it its true, even though theres no evidence for it, until the time that you can somehow prove that she didn't?

is that the standard now, in your opinion?

There is no evidence that Pershing himself committed these acts, there is nothing said about the use of 50 bullets dipped in pig’s blood, and most important, there is no evidence to support Trump’s claim that this tactic was effective in stopping violence -- or that it would provide a useful policy today.

So if we didnt hear about Abu Ghraib it would be documented for historians 100 years from now?

What if one of the soldiers there in 40 years wrote a letter saying it did happen?

Prove the letter does not exist and or the soldier that wrote it never served under him. Saying its not true because it was not in an official document is BS.

Looks like you listened to his tweet and read up on General Pershing and his methods of dealing with terrorists. It also looks like Trump started a dialogue about how similar terrorist factions have been dealt with in the past.

But because trump referred to what was pretty plainly a folk-lore type story your panties got in a wad and you use this to claim liar, doofus, et.,.

If he got people like you to read and share it because they object to the folk-lore type story he referred to then maybe some folks will have been educated about successful methods of dealing with terror groups. Terrible, bad, sad guy!!!!

He stood on a podium and said General Pershing had his men dip 49 bullets in pig's blood and execute Muslims. Then let one live to tell the rest. Trump said it as though it was 100% fact. It's dumb to say that and is be surprised if these generals who are all students of history aren't losing their minds right now. Truth is they are because they know he's a moron and they are putting their country first in this case. They are staying on because they are our last line of defense from Trump . Trump is a puppet and has done nothing of value ever in his life. He was a check book as a real estate mogul and he's a figure head now.

The facts are:

None of us were there

Apparently someone that was there wrote an letter years later saying he did something with pigs blood

Historians say the evidence is thin. (Notice they dont say doesnt exist)

Historians say he wouldn't do such a thing based on opinion of others he knew (that was not present)

Fill us in what other facts exist?

Any fact source would normally mark that as inconclusive or unlikely. Not factually false...

What other evidence exists? This is your thread cite your work.

I'll actually say Trump has done some good. He's put real men in charge to run this country bc he knew he couldn't. Now they have to swallow their pride and die a little inside everyday knowing they work for the biggest fricking idiot that has ever held a position of power.

So, you take the first thing I say and completely misrepresent my entire statement. It doesn't matter if it's true because Trump saying that will cause people to actually research and find the truth.

quote:

and when they do, they learn that trump is using an urban legend that never actually happened as a type of evidence to justify his beliefs.

His beliefs on ISIS have been well-known for quite some time. People who don't know them either 1) haven't paid attention to him at all or 2) don't care to listen to him and outright refute anything he says because they despise him. In addition, using an urban legend to "justify" his believes is a straw man.

our President is a dolt and proved it again today. that is not win-win.

Maybe this is what trump was referring to? He never specifically mentioned pig blood in that tweet
