moar DVs for me!!!
youre not wrong at first glance
But Trump's campaign has been extremely calculated and here's why I see that Gaetz appointment....as sloppy as it might appear at first
its clever as frick
Trump did not get involved or overly involved in the Senate majority election process even though a lot of people were asking him to do so and there was a bit of a groundswell for him to do so but he stayed out of it
As was proper constitutionally and historically
let the legislative branch make its choices
Which allows him to say back to the legislative branch
allow me, The executive branch me to make my choices
I'm sure as good as his lawyers have been on election security they have also done the vetting on his appointments
And as clear as the election results were to his internal polling and the Democrats internal polling for that matter
And to me as I kept trying to tell you all to RELAX
Elon himself has been very clear to the principles that are motivating him are found in the constitution given that he was awarding $1 million a day to people that agreed to support the First and Second Amendment
Also it's very politically savvy to bring the Heat now around the holidays
all the protests all the whining let them do it all now
it will be forgotten about by most January 1st

Who won’t appoint a special counsel based on hogwash?
1) Gaetz
Probably won't. But he has to get the job first. Again, how does he get there? What I've been asking the entire thread and not a single fricking person has answered that. You all just got your asses hurt that I even dared to ask that question.
Thune was on Fox tonight within an hour of me starting this thread hedging against getting Gaetz through on a recess appointment because the senators who wouldn't vote for him would have to vote to approve a recess knowing he'd get appointed in recess.
So how's he going to get the job? My expectation is that based both on their personal grudges against and the optics around him, he won't get the votes in the senate and for the same reason, Thune won't nut up and push him through. I think the nomination ultimately gets withdrawn and we have to start the process over and get behind the 8 ball. Which sucks. I want the Trump administration to hit the ground running and not get bogged down out of the gate.

Consider this. Very sobering assessment here about Afghanistan.

He is actually thoughtful when he wants to be.

The Left should welcome Matt Gaetz as attorney general
quote:
Gaetz may be known as a bombastic MAGA supporter in the eyes of the media. He livestreams, he podcasts, he trades barbs with political enemies with acidic bluster. But for those who have closely followed his legislative career, the Florida lawmaker represents a sharp break from the corporate-friendly orthodoxy of the modern Republican Party. Indeed, Gaetz’s elevation will provide sprawling prosecutorial powers for continuing his push against special interest influence and corporate malfeasance.
His record speaks for itself. From his perch on the House Judiciary Committee, Gaetz has promoted a surprisingly consumer-friendly agenda, routinely breaking with his GOP colleagues on crucial votes. He previously supported legislative measures to break up Silicon Valley monopolies, sharply regulate the online data broker industry, ban noncompete employment contracts, and an end to the practice of forced arbitration, among other corporate accountability votes. He has also taken maverick positions on reducing FBI surveillance powers, cutting certain arms supplies to Saudi Arabia and legalising marijuana.
In addition, Gaetz has staked a position at times to the Left of some establishment Democrats. In the fight over the Ending Platform Monopolies Act — a bill designed to curb anticompetitive practices by Amazon and Google — Gaetz ended up supporting the legislation, while California Democrats close to the tech industry, such as Zoe Lofgren and Eric Swalwell, voted against it.
In an era of severe political polarisation, the Florida representative has found opportunities to support actions of the Biden administration. In August, Gaetz wrote a letter to Alphabet chief executive Sundar Pichai, urging him to “adhere fully” to the antitrust ruling against the company secured by the current Department of Justice. He has called on Trump to continue a corporate law enforcement pattern started by the Biden administration. “I would hope that whoever is the next FTC chair would continue many of the cases that Chair Khan has brought against predatory businesses,” Gaetz told the Wall Street Journal.
Gaetz’s dealings with the populist Left do not end there. Not only did he push for a crackdown on the influence industry in Washington, he teamed up with Leftist firebrand Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on a demand to end congressional stock trading over concerns that lawmakers have enriched themselves using insider knowledge. “AOC is wrong a lot,” Gaetz said, explaining the bipartisan push. “But she’s not corrupt. And I will work with anyone and everyone to ensure that Congress is not so compromised.”

But again, I exist in the real world where we never have a united Republican front on crucial votes.
So, your solution is to continue empowering the establishment despite a clear mandate from the people. How do you expect things to change if you keeping doing the same things over and over?
The only way this experiment to return the government to the people fails is if there are too many people like you who are scared to make waves. People like you who are scared to fight back against the corrupt system will keep this country spiraling the drain.
The country elected Trump to fulfill his agenda. It seems you prefer to be ruled by a small political class.
If Gaetz doesn't get confirmed and we don't get recess appointments, then we move to someone else and let #2 at the DOJ, who doesn't need confirmation, run the place in the meantime. I'm not sure why you are acting like the world will end if Gaetz can't get enough votes. The plan moves forward regardless without compromise. Get on board or be quiet.

Copied my from my.post in another thread....
Gaetz is a willing bargaining chip
quote:
My synopsis...
-Ron was going to give him the Senate seat
-trump said hold up, I need a leverage tool to get my appointments through
-nominate gaetz to AG to make all the other appointments (hegseth, etc) seem more reasonable and low key.
-negotiate with the Senate to remove the gaetz appt if they push through everyone else
-gaetz "falls back" to the Senate seat
Done. Everyone wins except Senate leadership
Gaetz is a willing bargaining chip

Another one. Another one to come at me with nothing but name calling and not answer the god damn question how he's going to make it into office?
Were into 6 fricking pages now and all that's been offered up is
"Pussy. Cuck. Beta. Cry. Loser. You're the problem. Shut the frick up. Tranny lover. Biden is a pedophile!"
Yeah. Great. Anyway, how does Matt Gaetz make it to the attorney generals office?
Posted on 11/14/24 at 8:00 pm to SportTiger1
Gaetz falling up to a Senate seat makes a lot more sense than AG

This is learning.
What derailed his first term? Limp-wristed Sessions appointing a special counsel.
Who won’t appoint a special counsel based on hogwash?

Who else you got?
100%
I'll admit, this pick threw me off a little. But at the end of the day this position is the one that can hurt and did hurt him the most. Get a guy you know is 100% committed and go from there.

I hear what you are saying. But the President has ways - there is still a spoils system, and Senators have a lot of friends and family needing/wanting low level jobs.
Plus, they have his recess appointment - although I am not sure how that s supposed to play out.

SMH.... Well, anyone who voted for Trump should chill out and let the man work his plan.
I mean that's why we voted for him, right?

Nope. But that's got frick to do with the people who will be charged with getting the nomination through to office. I'm not going to be there to cast a vote for Gaetz am I?
But Murkowski will be
Collins will be
Mullen will be
John Thune stands in the way
How does the nomination get through? Still no one has answered it.

Oh for frick sake. My OP rationally asks the very real question as to how he's going to make it through to the position. It's not just Trump appoints him and you yell MAGA and Gaetz is the AG. You've got shitty senators to get through.

I’d like to know if the US AG fricked a minor to be quite honest. This ain’t about political polarization. If you are going tribal mode then you’re a part of the troubles in this nation today. Nobody should want a pedophile sitting in the top prosecutor seat.
I don’t care if the DoJ let it go because beyond reasonable doubt is a high burden but the burden for what would be disqualifying to lead important positions in this country are deservedly lower. OJ may have been innocent in a criminal court but we all know that man killed those people.
If the facts laid bare were not damning then he wouldn’t be weaseling his way into trying to keep them from the public.
