This shite all started with Sam Donaldson and Reagan. It started the era where ‘journalists’ (which is not what they are) are out to make a name for themselves. It’s about celebrity, not journalism. There is no more journalism in the mainstream media.

If you want facts you’ll find it on podcasts, not on television.

Speaking truth to power used to actually mean something when journalists, you know, spoke the truth. However, many of their "gotchas" and so-called "fact checks" are themselves inaccurate these days because they too, like the man they are attacking, have preconceived biases that go against the political philosophy of the current president.

It also doesn't help that these same journalists treat those politicians with whom they agree with like children, rarely asking them tough questions and letting them BS their way through controversial topics.

You're correct about the dynamic, but I think we saw signs of it even earlier when the propaganda puppet Dan Rather insulted Nixon. I've seen video of that.

Really? I find that if you want the truth, you have to work to find it, by going to various news sources with various leanings - left, center, and right, as well as foreign news sources. I like some podcasts, but people will naturally find them based on their own political leanings. Limiting the number of news sources that you have is dangerous to your intellect.

As others said, the trend started with a very few activist journalists. That appealed to many young people who wanted to follow in the footsteps of these brave activists and uncover things like the next Watergate.

We are seeing the same thing in the judiciary now. Soon, the judiciary will be held in the same contempt as the legacy media.

Dan’s was an isolated incident. He wasn’t the pesky gnat that Donaldson had become.

If these characters ever held the Democratic politicians feet to the fire, I might be inclined to agree with the pure celebrity angle but along with the celebrity they may gain, they are also there to be propagandists for the DNC.
